By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Light amber with a medium diminishing frothy off white head. Aroma of pine, resin, grapefruit, bread, apricot, caramel. Slightly astringent. Medium watery body with lively carbonation. Strong flavor of grapefruit, pine, toast, apricot and pepper. Refreshing. Very good, although a little astringent. Big thanks to DocLock for sending this to me!

Bottle: Medium amber w/ a lasting white head. Lemony citrus & toasty malt; medium fruitiness, malt also lighly bready, but citrusy hop dominates. Seems to be lightly solventy piney/hairspray aroma when it warms. Well balanced w/ a citrus hop flavor, a little too well balanced IMHO for an IPA, bu t I didn’t make it! Light caramel, malty, hop flavored finish & aftertaste. Drier m/f, alcohol a little warming, but mostly well hidden, medium body. I’m still not a hop head, but fully enjoyable for an IPA. Not quite as bitter as I expected, especially from Stone, but still very good.

A nice and smooth IPA that has tons on floral hops within. Very drinkable, but not as drinkable as I thought it was going to be.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2004 Bottled. Clear tangerine color with fluffy white head. This had a very potent hop aroma and a beautiful flavor dominated by hops but also full of fruity notes. A truly awesome IPA.

Pours a cloudy golden-amber, almost similar to a wheat beer, with a nice 1/2’’ head. Hops are readily present in the aroma, along with slight hints of fruit. The hoppy flavor may appear overwhelming at first, but is nicely balance out with malt for a smooth, crisp finish. Full boddied, crisp, tasty, and well worth a try.

Wonderful in every respect, my favorite part has got to be the middle, with it’s brilliant hoppiness and an almost sweet finish

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2009 A great IPA. My favorite. Great hoppy flavor, but still sweet enough. Has a nice thick feel, and is light enough to be very drinkable. I could drink this stuff all night!

22oz bomber...clear copper pour with a large off white head. Wonderfully floral hop aroma. Slight metallic aroma is detectable also. Nicely hopped, easy beginning, building to a rather intense middle and a strong ending. Nice bitterness beckons for another sip.

bottled: i have had this a couple of times as many of us have and i really cant say enough. this to me is the standard for american IPA’s. its unbelievable. now ive argued the arrogant and double bastard hype...they arent that great but are good. this is stones great beer. one hundred percent over the top hop kick you in the ass style flavor. the golden color on the beer is almost hypnotic, not your typical color and look. just perfection in a glass. more of a floral hops then citrus and vanilla buttery smoothness. i enjoy this to ruination just because its a notch down with a little less alcohol that is very drinkable. this is the benchmark and the goldstandard. lets see someone outdo this. im rarely this kind to beers but this is superb.
