4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
My kind of beer. Slightly floral scent with a hint of spearmint. Clear golden color with the perfect amount of carbonation. Hoppy but not too the extreme. Crisp and consise. Smooth and complex at the same time. Excellently balanced and easy to drink. Not overpowering but still providing some umph! Slightly bitter overtone and aftertaste. An excellent brew. Thanks jcalambre for another great Stone brew! I need to do a head-to-head taste off with the Victory Hop Devil. Try with a crawfish etouffee and you will be in heaven!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2003 This IPA pours a clear, deep amber color with a large, rocky, white head that is mostly lasting. The aroma is full of hops with some piney notes, but also contains some good fruitiness and a bit of maltiness as well. Medium to full bodied with a smooth palate and moderate carbonation, the flavor is hoppy at first, but is soon balanced some by the intense maltiness. The finish is all hops, however, with a good bitter bite to end it all. An excellent IPA, and one that grace the lips of every good beer drinker at least once.

Not many bottled beers ever score all that highly for me in the aroma section....but this one is an exception. Nice hoppy aroma, and a lovely amber color. Excellent balance, crisp and refreshing hop flavors, slightly citrusy. A bitter zing throughout. Very good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Light straw color, small head. A very hoppy beer, dry and crisp. Distinctive hop aroma. Beer is ‘dry hopped’ for 2 weeks. A 60 IBU beer. Finish is clean and crisp. A nice bitter IPA. Good beer, etched beer bottle.

Great nose to this beer. The hop flavor really makes this beer, and gives it a lasting feel.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 10/3/02: Over the top HOP-HOP-HOP. My intro to IPAs.
8/16/03: Golden color, light white head. Flowery hop aroma. Flavor is malt, grapefruit and pine. This was once the benchmark for west coast IPAís, but AleSmith has raised the bar!
5/10/06: Green Flash has raised the bar again.
But I still pick up a bomber every now and again. 10/21/11: My go-to-beer at Valley View Casino.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2004 A hop explosion of aroma and flavor with a bit of mint and vines without any any heavy tobacco or dust. It snaps crisp on the tongue and is very drinkable. A model West Coast IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber color with a thick creamy white head. Flowery citrusy, junipery, Cascade hop aroma with a hint of maltyness. Strong citrus, tea, hop flavor bitterness and uncharacteristically but not unplesant subdued malt flavor for a Stone beer. An outstanding beer.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm....this is really really good. The dryhopping is very apparent and adds a lot to this extraordinary IPA. This is the best IPA Iíve had. Actually modestly bitter in my opinion (reguardless of its IBUs) but just incredibly flavorful. The hops are prominent here but very well balanced and presented. My first 4+ IPA.
