4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
11/29/03. Poured out of 12 oz. bottle, bought at Liquorama in Upland, CA 11/5/03. Pours to a clear, bold golden body-- looks rather full. Rocky, off-white head that hangs around thinly with very good, sandy and shimmering lacing. Carbonation runs through the body pretty vigorously. Fresh, bright hop aroma with some delicate malts and hints of cloying sweetness. Taste is a little bit of hay, no-nonsense bitter hops and pale malt. Stings with carbonation and burn of hops. Quite complex assortment of flavors going on with the tease of overwhelming bitterness but the balance of a subtly sweet outline. Very substantial mouthfeel, medium-full. Finsh lingers long and turns to a somewhat harsh but pleasant bitter malt glow-- like fresh barley malts bursting in your mouth. Mellowed but still punishing. A deceptively simple brew, this just does what it does extremely well. And I'm sure it's fantastic with spicy Indian or Mexican food.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 10, 2007 2003 Draught. Yes!! I love it. I get tired of all of these new super wowee double ultra IPAs. . . I like a sessionable IPA. 2004 draught. Yes. Good. Balanced.
Having had bottles of this twice now in blind tastings, I havent been as impressed. I actually got some yeasty, blandish, sourish type notes, almost buttery. Though the mouthfeel is still creamy and soothing and the nose expressive.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hoppy as any exmaple that is available on the market today. The overall strength of hops somewhat takes over the the other subtle flavors that show as it crosses the palate. Overall it is a definite "must try" for any fan of the style, but unbalanced overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Big head and citrusy-hop aroma start off nicely on top a beer that is just a shade lighter than many IPA's.
The body was a little thin and the finish was short. With an IPA like Ruination, I don't know why they need this beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
White foamy head with lacing. Golden appearance which is see through. Smooth, drinkable, well balanced hops and malt. Nice (small but effective) hop aftertaste. Hop acidity tingles on my tongue as the beer goes down. Slightly dry but not overly so. Excellent beer.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Lighter color than expected- seems like the probably stuck to just pale malt without any character malts. Not to worry- this beer is all about the hops anyway. Aroma and flavor are overloaded with NW hops which pack a huge punch to the senses. Very resiny almost like that of an I2PA, yet it is still very drinkable.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Another IPA that is just way, way too hoppy for this rater. Wow! A small sized white head that was creamy and smooth with fine-medium sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was carboned and cloudy with a golden hue. The nose is hops without question and the flavor is bitter and very hoppy. The palate is tingly and hoppy. This is a medium-full bodied IPA with good lacing. Just too much hoppiness for someone who is not a hop head.
