UPDATED: DEC 16, 2007 Its not as overpowering as Ruination, its the perfect balance of hops and malt. Apperance is copper with a moderate head. Aroma is of oranges, pine, and hops. I could smell this all day! Flavor is hoppy with a complexity of citrus and pine. The hops are not as overpowering as one might believe based on Stone’s reputation. An absolute beauty of an IPA.

Draft and on cask at the Stone Kickoff at the Blind Tiger Ale House in NYC. Tale of two different monsters here. The draft version was a good solid IPA with just the right amount of hop flavor. The cask was like drinking a totally different beer. It smelled and tasted florally (sp) with a good hop bite. Was a little more cloudy then the draft.

Thick rocky head that disappears quite quickly. Pale golden color. Enormous amounts of lace on the glass. Looks like a traditional IPA. Smells of hops and sweet flowers, a nice balanced aroma. Hopped quite well with a suttle balance between the hops and the malts. I like the Ruination better. However, this is better than most IPA's on the market that I have had.

What a great beer. Stone IPA presents with a golden amber color and a slight haze.An obvious hops aroma was present the minute the beer was poured. Despite the vast amount of hops this beer is incredibly well balanced.

Very nice IPA, but pales in comparison to the Ruination IPA. After having the Ruination, this seems tame, but it's still an excellent example of a good West Coast IPA with plenty of hop bitterness. Overall, a very good beer.

If you've never tasted this beer, you, my friend, are in for a real treat. It has a very crisp taste to it. You need to try it very, very cold-almost freezing, to bring out that awesome taste. Stone Pale Ale, I.P.A. and Arrogant Bastard Ale, are quite simply the finest beers in the world. Haven't tried Double Bastard yet. It's hard to find, because it's a seasonal brew. Looking forward to it though! : )

Pours a light amber with nice head and constant bubbles though the end. Very nice hops aroma. Tingles the tip of your tongue at first, then comes a wonderful blast of hops all over and, finally finishes with bitter on the back sides. Being a prodominant fan of Weissebier I was very impressed with this beer. It has renewed my opinion of IPA.

There is a difference in West & East Coast brewing styles. This IPA has all the features of a West Coast IPA I expect.

Aroma was hoppy with some citrus. A hoppy flavor with a touch of caramel when warmed. It has a hint of pine. The color was golden with a small bubbly head. This is well balanced, but I have many IPA I enjoy more.

- cloudy, orangey/amber color, light white head, brussels lace, well-hopped with a malty mix in the aroma, just a touch of sweetness typical in English ales; excellent flavor, well-hopped, but well mixed with the malt flavors, just a touch of sweetness in the aftertaste, bitter at the beginning, a great IPA, one of the best I’ve ever had
