4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A great American IPA. Lots of American hoppiness. Cloudy golden color. Not as good as Victory Hop Devil or as Stoneís Ruination, which I remember as off the scale bitter and just about perfect.

A well-balanced, hoppy and bitter IPA. Though excellent, I was slightly disappointed that, for all its hype, it was not quite as powerful an IPA as laConnerís or Diamond Knot.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2003 Update: I actually drive to that god-foresaken .5 million acre office park known as Northern Virginia to get this amazing beer. What I like most is the blend of citric and herbal hop flavor. It's just brilliant.
Old: Oh, these boys did a fine job, indeed. A study in hops. Whereas Alpha King offers a ton of hop flavor, but restrained bitterness, this beer widens its focus to embrace bitterness as a positive good. I rather like this.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2004 One of my favorite IPA's. I like the hops and expect it in an IPA. I will go elsewhere for malt. That said, this beer is not ALL hops - in the end it measures out quite nicely.

First thing that hits you is the wonderfully powerful aroma, very citrusy and sweet. Then, the flavor, hoppy and bitter but very well balanced with a nice buttery caramel front and the hops slowly exploding as it goes down. My first Stone, after reading about it for a year on the site, and Iím not disappointed; now if only we could get more than the couple currently available in New England? Hmmm? Greg??

A nice IPA. About as bitter as you can get before imbalance sets in. Nice body, good head. Some caramel notes along with the requisite spicy, citrus, grapefruit.

Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. I didnít think this stacked up to Ruination but it is still a contender. Dry, biting hops keep it interesting but it is still easy to drink. Keep íem coming Stone!

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2003 Upon uncapping the bottle, the smell of Cascade hops fills the room. It pours a medium golden color with a decent puffy head. Lots of aromatics and sweet malt mix together with a generous amount of hops to give this brew tremendous flavor and drinkability. Sweet malty body is well balanced with the perfect amount of citrusy hops. I just wish I could get more of this stuff around here. Thanks jcalabre.
