3.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Never been an IPA fan, so I can’t say I cared for the hoppy aroma much at all. Nevertheless, I found it very fresh and drinkable.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2004 re-rate 6/28/2004. On draft at Goat Hill. This is still an excellent example of an IPA, but now that I've had a few hundred beers since then
Excellent IPA. Great Aroma

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2003 This beer poured out a nice copperish gold color and formed a nice fairly white head, that when subsiding, left some nice lace. Aroma had elements of hops and some citrus. The taste had a substantial amount of hops and slightly bitter aspect to it, which is good in an IPA. Good beer

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2003 Rerate: Thinner than I orginally thought, more hops and less balance as well. Downgraded. Original: 6/17/02: Real Real good. More floral than 5th anniv. (I have yet to try DFH's or Victory's Hop Devil) and nearly as malty as this year's model (catch the ref, music fans?). Crisp and clean, not nearly as watery as even the same state wannabes. Very drinkable.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Light color as far as IPAs go. Initial hop blast is big. Once the taste buds adjust to the hops this is a great brew. Lots of hops with enough malt to make it work. Had at the Seattle Brewfest. I will look for this next year for sure.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Strong hoppy aroma, very bitter like an IPA should be. Lasting aftertaste that isn’t as acidic as you would expect. Very well made. IPA fans shouldn’t miss this one.

One of my all time favorite beers. Tastes wonderful almost like licorice!

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2003 Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Aroma is heavily hoppy (pine, resin), lightly malty (light bread), with a note of turpentine/varnish. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is heavily bitter, moderately acidic, lightly sweet. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately astringent, lightly alcoholic. Second review. Very medicinal aroma, presumably a combination of the strong resinous hops and the alcohol, are still a turn-off for my nose. Smells like something you'd clean floors with, not drink ("a floor wax that's also a dessert topping!"). Flavor balance and mouthfeel are decent for the style, but I can't see myself buying this a third time.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very fine IPA with loads of hops and a very light refreshing texture, maybe too light. The only thing this beer lacks is the malt depth, found in hopdevil, wich balances the great hop bitterness.
