By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2003 Bottled: Orange golden coloured. Has a medium lasting head. Aroma has notes of earth and flowers. Flvaour is hops, hops, hops, hops and ..... Boy oh boy. My palate was carpetbombed with hops. Quite pleasant, really, with this massive bitterness in the palate. If this is gonna be the standard of the 6 californian beers i've traded from herbjones, i'm gonna be a lucky man!

Once poured, you notice the mysterious dense head, slightly misty golden orange colour. One of the first IPA's I have seriously sampled to date and yet still remains my favourite. Starts with a strong crisp and complexed, hop to floral flavour with a pronounced finish. It is a medley of liquid love in a bottle. I am throwing my first wife out for this beer!

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2006 Ok, Better looking than I remember. Lightly hazed orange, with some decent lace. Still sweet but without the heavy cardboard,. More alcohol perceived. Flavors are better with some grapefruit and a touch of white grapes. Malt evident and welcome in the middle and finish to help balance out the hops. Quite smooth for the strength. Big yeast presents in both the aroma and the flavor at times. A full, strong IPA. Original Rating (7,3,6,4,13 = 3.3) Hazy golden orange color with a tight bubbled small beige head. Sweet grapefruit with a hint of wet cardboard aroma. Citrus and sweet (near cloying) flavors. I would wager this is either old or heat struck. Rats!

This is the 1st beer ive ever had from this brewery, and i will definitely be trying more after this. Yes its bitter, but in a very refreshing way, that makes me want to take another sip every time. Theres also some sweetness to balance it out. Absolutely delicious.

You know I tried the Ruination ale right before this one and I swear this one is more bitter. I still had no problem swallowing this one down with ease. Although after dropping 44 oz of ale down my into my belly I wasn't exactly all there.

These guys do like their hops. But I still feel as though I am worthy of their beer. Very hoppy but they don't skimp on the malts either. This is a great beer before bedtime.

Orange in color. Bitter bitter bitter. Very complex, sweet, sour, fruty. An amazing aroma. My second brew from Stone.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2007 A splendid IPA. Big on the hops aroma and flavor, but the bitterness is not overdone. A little weak on malt character, but who said this was supposed to be a "balanced" beer? The dry hopping gives it that "fresh hops" smell that is simply not present in most IPAs; it smells like hops fresh out of the bag.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2007 Hands down the best IPA I’ve tried yet. Fruity and amazingly complex aroma (IMO) for an IPA. Pears, honey, hops oil. Foamy white head on hazy dark amber beer with lacing down the whole side of the glass. Medium-heavy body with low-medium carb - great mouthfeel. The balance of sweet/tart malts/hops is incredible. Very fruity and huge hops finish with light bitter/fruit after. Clean and crisp - really perks you up.

This beer is awesome. The aroma is lightly floral, with some citrus notes. It pours a clear golden color, with a small cream head. The palate is wonderful, It is soft, rich, somewhat buttery as well. It is hopped just right. It is fully bitter, and the finish is nice and dry.
