3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear golden colored pour. Big white head. Plenty of lacing. Slight hoppy aroma. Citrusy. Not much else. Taste is a bitter bite up front followed by a bit of hop flavor. Some caramel notes follow it.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
As it was in the beginning, is now, and forever shall be, the quintessential SoCal IPA.Popped my craft brew cherry with the 22oz. incarnation and have wavered back and forth about the merits of the beer (primarily due to competition from the widely underappreciated but arguably most-likely-to-rival, Lagunitas IPA). But in the end, it?s the original, the meter by which all other IPAs are measured.Nose is ripe, resiny hop, cut-grass, bready malt, some sourness, and a lingering waft of orange citrus. Balanced heaviness in mouthfeel and tingly carbonation give way to sticky hop, biscuits, and bright citrus flavors that build and linger on the tongue. Alcohol is not upfront but shows up in the profile as the glass gets lower. While I could apply a myriad of exacting critiques - i.e its very sharp in flavor and not necessarly right for drinking on the reg - it?s a real classic. Oh yeah, and it looks pretty good in a glass...

Good lacing with a little retention. Smells of citrus hops, floral and sweet malts. Tastes of sweet malt, tropical hops and long bitter finish.

By far my 2nd favorite IPA (Ruination is my first). Great flavor and if I had to drink only one brand it would be Stone. This, Ruination, Arrogant Bastard and Levitation all are up high on any beer list I would make.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: strong hops, citrus, tropical fruits, flowers. Appearance: dark hazy gold, hardly any head. Taste: medium to strong bitters. Palate: bitters continue to intensify, medium-long finish, bitters get almost a bit too extreme, some butter notes?. Overall: very nice IPA - remarkably bitter, maybe a bit too much for me. Bottle at the Lazy Fox, Fulham.

My bottle is a month from the enjoy by date on the bottle neck. A nice blue smoke and a pale yellow pour into a hazy orange body. A full two-finger, white, medium-rocky, very dense and creamy head, it will last a while. The smell is amazing with great hops, yeasts and malt aromas fully developed, and rising out of my glass. The mouth gets an overload of flavor immediately. Its piney and cotton candy, bitter and sweet all at once. It goes down as smooth and creamy as it smells and leaves you with only a dry, slight lingering bitterness and the wanting of another sip. Its probably the best non-imperial IPA available. No home should be without a fresh six pack.
