yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 7, 2008 From tap. Pours clear and golden orange with a lacing white head. Crisp peach and grapefruity hops aroma. Flavour is dense grapefruit and pine wood hoppy flavour. Mild sweet and fruity. Goes into a nice mellow and fruity hops finish yet with a solid bitterness. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Aug 7, 2008 Updated: Oct 30, 2008Poured it just now, sitting in front of me. Initial smell is hops but not very strong, Appearance is cloudy dark, orange red with a thin white head. Flavor is rather weak with some hops. Palate is smooth and leaves a small bitterness. Two sips, not very impressed but its not bad. This is balanced but like, no complexity to it. I need to try this again another day and rerate it, I’m thinking my senses are attuned tonight.
Rerate...yeah, its beautiful. msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Aug 6, 2008 Bomber. Pours clears golden orange leaving thin white film of head. Can smell it from 2 feet away. Huge aroma of floral and citrus hops with a touch of pine, orange and lemon. Flavor is floral hops, citurs and pine with touch of malt. Flavor does not match the intensity of the aroma, but still packs big hop punch. Drinkablility is scary as this IPA is perfectly balanced. pollardjt (26), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Aug 6, 2008 Updated: Sep 30, 2008Exactly what I’m looking for in a great IPA. The floral, citrusy hops burst out of the bottle on the initial whiff, and the flavor is there to back it up. Nice orange/amber color, with a decent head. Beautiful lingering bitterness. SHANER4 (370), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Aug 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle - Poured hazy honey color with medium head and great lacing on glass. Hop aroma is quite bountiful along with citrus. Taste is bitter on tongue due to high IBUs which makes for great IPA. Flavor is very similar to Bells Two Hearted Ale which is a good thing. My second Stone brew to date and liked both. craftycarl21 (511), South Hero, Vermont, USA Aug 4, 2008 Golden pour with frothy head. Intense hop aroma and flavor- grapefruit, other citrus, and strong pine notes. Exceptional balance, one of the best IPAs out there. happybear (2), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Aug 3, 2008 bottle, hoppy aroma with good lacing. Touch of carbonation and grapefruit undertones make this an excellent offering for sessions. Good malt finish. One of my favorites hopeye101 (39), Draughthouse, Texas, USA Aug 3, 2008 Got a 22 oz bomber from my local liquor store. Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard are the only 2 Stone brews available in Texas, so I tend to take these beers for granted.
Poured a 1 finger head into my imperial pint glass.
Color is light amber.
Aroma is floral citrusy, powerful for an IPA.
taste is just the right balance between maltiness and hop bite that I expect from an IPA.
Drinkability: I could drink a lot of this but I usually get a lower abv ipa for a session beer.
Extremely well balanced.
Stone, you haven’t let me down yet.
