The floral, citrusy hops burst out of the bottle on the initial whiff, and the flavor is there to back it up. Nice orange/amber color, with a decent head. Beautiful lingering bitterness. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2008 12 oz. bottle - Poured hazy honey color with medium head and great lacing on glass. Hop aroma is quite bountiful along with citrus. Taste is bitter on tongue due to high IBUs which makes for great IPA. Flavor is very similar to Bells Two Hearted Ale which is a good thing. My second Stone brew to date and liked both. craftycarl21 (545), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Golden pour with frothy head. Intense hop aroma and flavor- grapefruit, other citrus, and strong pine notes. Exceptional balance, one of the best IPAs out there. happybear (2), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2008 bottle, hoppy aroma with good lacing. Touch of carbonation and grapefruit undertones make this an excellent offering for sessions. Good malt finish. One of my favorites hopeye101 (39), Draughthouse, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2008 Got a 22 oz bomber from my local liquor store. Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard are the only 2 Stone brews available in Texas, so I tend to take these beers for granted.
Poured a 1 finger head into my imperial pint glass.
Color is light amber.
Aroma is floral citrusy, powerful for an IPA.
taste is just the right balance between maltiness and hop bite that I expect from an IPA.
Drinkability: I could drink a lot of this but I usually get a lower abv ipa for a session beer.
Extremely well balanced.
Stone, you haven’t let me down yet.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2008 22oz bottle. Citric hop aroma with a slight floral scent. Two finger foamy head that last about 3 minutes and leave a nice lace. Light orange in color with visible carbonation. Taste is very hoppy with a slight maltiness in the background. Good carbonation makes this crisp and refreshing. One of my favorite all time IPA’s. Great out of the bottle, even better on tap. Swalden28 (1451), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours a nice clear gold ith nice white head. Aroma of grapefruit and sweet malt. Flavor is very nice, grapefruit hops, bold heavy malt flavor, nice strong bitter....This is an excellent IPA, full bodied and high carbonation....I like this stuff!. FlssmrBrewAlum (1116), Lisle, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2008 22 oz. bottle. This might have been a little old. Pours a nice golden orangish hazed hue with a nice white head that sticks around and laces. Aromas were sweet and citrusy. Initial wasn’t as bitter as expected, but largely citrusy and sweet, lacking a defining malt character. Light bodied. Perhaps this has been on the shelf long enough to take away some of the hop bite. A very good beer, very sessionable, but nothing like the hop bomb I expected for this supposed top tier IPA. Rerate pending.. for now, a good beer but a little dissappointed from expectations.
