| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 7, 2009 I love this beer. Starting with the rush of grapefruit hop smell to the bitter taste that finishes into a sweet malt. I’ve never had a Stone I didn’t like. vomit (65), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2009 It’s hop-tastic. If Blatz made an IPA this would be it. Full of wondrous hop aromas, and more bitter than your wife (or ex-wife). After you quaff a Bakers dozen of Vals’ Finest (Blatz or Blatz Light) you may slam one of these hop-bombs down, screaming, "Blatz is a genius" while trying to light your genitalia on fire (or not). Good stuff. and if you place some of these in front of your cache of Blatz, the in-laws will be fooled into thinking you are all out of the good stuff. Have a Stone IPA, then get tore up on Blatz....that’s how I roll. pressboxjoe (71), , New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2009 Bottle. I’ve had a long journey in a relatively short time since I first had a Stone IPA, probably not as long ago as I would guess. When I wasn’t seeking out hoppy beers on a regular basis, I used to say it smelled to me like new carpet. At this point I don’t even really detect that any more. Just a fruity orange refreshing aroma, piney and musty sure, but no rugs. For me the Stone is still a little underbalanced, slightly thin and unrepentantly bitter. I like more malt, but I still like this beer. Wombata (74), Kobe, Japan
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Appearance: Yellow orange.
Aroma: Intense fresh, West Coast floral and citrus hop and malt.
Flavor: Orange malt and citrus & floral hops launch a simultaneous assault. Some earthy flavors appear on the mid-palate and carry on into the finish.
Comment: Yep, this delivers. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England

bursting sweet and fresh grassy aroma, with pineapple and maple syrup, and some soap.
similar super-bright fruity flavor with stinging bitterness and not-quite-balancing sweetness in the front. finish is long and quite bitter.
i don’t know, this seems somewhat too bitter, and not really balanced. patrickfannon (299), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours slightly hazy orange, with a deep, off-white head. Aroma of hops, spice, and citrus. Crazily full body for an IPA, with a crisp, bitter finish. Excellent IPA from Stone. Definitely one of the best IPAs I’ve ever tasted.
