By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

- Nose: citrus-y (grapefruit + v light orange – satsuma?); caramel malts; a little peach; a little pine. - Body: slightly creamy/oily (makes sense with high ABV); grapefruit + pine come to fore more, but meet their match in the (caramel?) malts. - Finish: medium-long finish, crisp with a little hop-bitter fade. - A golden delight and pretty good benchmark US IPA? Citrus, not too pine-y, a good weight + malt balance whilst still managing a crisp finish #StoneMe1 #1001Beers

Bomber to myself. Golden orange pour, medium fairly dense off-white head. Lots of lacing. Big hop aroma, citrus orange, less so pine. Taste follows through with the hop flavors, nice resinous bitter finish Terrific example of an IPA.

I recently decided I was going to try and hunt down as many of these top 50 IPA’s as possible. I was a lot more surprised that I hadn’t rated this one, than I was that it made the list. The IPA is solid and I’ve enjoyed it for years. Pours a clear oily golden color with a thick foam head and lace. 22 oz bottled on 7/26/15, so it’s closer to the best by date than it is the bottled date. Huge citrus hop aroma and flavor thoughout. Just a standard, solid, hoppy IPA here. Impressed with this one.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2016 Old rating: 0.355 l bottle from FIRMA BIER, no bb date. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Intense, sweetish-fruity aroma of orange blossom, mango, honey, resin and tangerine. Great to come back to an old favourite. Wow that’s more bitter than I remembered. Refreshingly so. Not too subtle at all. Great blend of a lot of pine and some citrus from the hops. A little sweetness from the malt. Packs a serious punch.
