Light amber with a big white head that fades to a light cover. Nice lacing. Aroma is pine and grapefruit, with some malt underneath. The flavor is good on the citrus and pine with a nice caramel malt backbone. Good balance and very easy drinking.

Has a pretty strong pleasant aroma. It has a pretty strong pine and citrusy blend of bitterness that is quite tasty. Very good, but not quite as good as ruination.

Citrus (grapefruit), herbal, spicy--with just enough light caramel sweetness to hold up the hops. Nice bitterness; stronger in aftertaste, but in a good way.

Pours clear, amber/orange with a good size head of white foam that fell almost reasonably to a thick cap; leaving some monstrously stubborn lace. Nose is big with lemon, floral and herbal, citrus, lime and a nice soft spice under all the fruit. Not a lot of malt on the nose. Just a hint of bread and some caramel sweetness. As it warms the lemon sweetens deeply and so does the caramel. Taste is colossal. Fruit washes over the palate a bit too quickly and meets a heavy resin for a bitter that starts mid palate. Bread shows up in back with some light biscuit right before an oily pine blast. Finishes slick with a powerful bitter that lasts long into a finish that isn’t really dry as much as pithy and sour. Body is thin and while the malt constantly approaches it never rounds out and so this leaves a touch imbalanced Moderate to low carbonation.

This was a strong, beer that grows on you as you drink. I didn’t find the same cocky personality in this that I have found in other Stone beers and I think I missed that. I also think that the fruit character suffered in the attempt to make it intensely bitter without provoking it sufficiently first. The malt came out more and more to show that it was indeed stronger than you might have realized. The hop character engaged you more and more as well as the expansive bitter just kept unfolding and at the end of the bottle I was mysteriously satisfied.

22 oz. bottle. Probably the best widely available IPA out there. Complex flavors, very refreshing.

There really isn’t anything else that can be said about this brew that hasn’t been said. Quite simply It is the best standard IPA out there.

Light amber pour with white head. Aroma is candied malt, ripe fruit. Flavour has malt sweetness with peaches, mango and honeydew. A nice piney bitterness cuts in mid palate. Bitter-sweet finish. Wonderful balance and flavour.

Pint at Tadg. Fantastic balance of fruit and pine, accentuated by the dry-hopping. The slight maltiness makes it incredibly drinkable.

Bottle in the Garibaldi econolodge, enjoyed out of a tiny plastic cup. Been so long since I’ve had this, and still smells delicious in it’s hazy glory. Pine needles and caramel nose. Same in taste, but more malty with the pine coming up after. Pleasant dryness, and carbonation.

Seriously, one of the best IPAs i have ever had the pleasure of quaffing. Pours a beautiful orange/gold, honey and the fragrance of pine greets your nose by the time the bottle cap hits the counter. Velvety smooth, with medium carbonation. The taste of pine, citrus, a hint of sweet maltiness that gives way to a gentle heat on the finish. Utterly mind blowing.
