4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. Pour was a hazy orange with a finger of off-white head that took some time to disappear. The aroma is fantastic. Notes of apricot, grapefruit and tropical fruits. Mouth....where do I begin. Delicious! The fruitiness hits the palette right away with a mild hop bite. Grapefruit and apricot through to a somewhat dry finish. Good lacing. Very tasty.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Floral and citrusy aroma. Hops are understated in the scent considering the IBU’s on this one. Dark golden color, visually appealing. Foam rises high but goes away quickly enough. Sticks to side of glass as you drink it. Taste is grapefruit, hops, very clean, simple, not trying to do too much. Very refreshing palate. Personally, I want some of an aftertaste in my IPA’s and this one has just the right amount. Hop bitterness comes through in the end but does not blow you away. I really could drink this everyday.

This IPA got me into starting to enjoy IPAs since I was always so stuck on stouts. I’m still a stoutman but I’ve broadened my horizons thanks to this beer. Very floral and hoppy and awesome!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear golden colored pour. Big white head. Plenty of lacing. Slight hoppy aroma. Citrusy. Not much else. Taste is a bitter bite up front followed by a bit of hop flavor. Some caramel notes follow it.

I’ve heard that this is the beer that everybody tried and still tries to copy. I can see why.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
As it was in the beginning, is now, and forever shall be, the quintessential SoCal IPA.Popped my craft brew cherry with the 22oz. incarnation and have wavered back and forth about the merits of the beer (primarily due to competition from the widely underappreciated but arguably most-likely-to-rival, Lagunitas IPA). But in the end, it?s the original, the meter by which all other IPAs are measured.Nose is ripe, resiny hop, cut-grass, bready malt, some sourness, and a lingering waft of orange citrus. Balanced heaviness in mouthfeel and tingly carbonation give way to sticky hop, biscuits, and bright citrus flavors that build and linger on the tongue. Alcohol is not upfront but shows up in the profile as the glass gets lower. While I could apply a myriad of exacting critiques - i.e its very sharp in flavor and not necessarly right for drinking on the reg - it?s a real classic. Oh yeah, and it looks pretty good in a glass...
