3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2013 Big, bold, hoppety-hoppy, resinous - I get it: it sets the standard for initiating old-world tastebuds to West-Coast IPA zesty-bitterness with the subtlety of a forced skydive. Expertly brewed, inspiring awe but not overzealous amounts of affection in my Belgian-for-balance-educated palate.

Bottle. Pour a slightly hazy gold with a thin off-white head. Aroma and taste of citrus, pine and floral hop. Nicely bitter but not the hop bomb I was expecting but still a nice IPA.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to shaker glass. Pours cloudy gold, two finger head, light lacing. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, apricot and grass. Taste is very balanced but bitterness is the showcase. Medium body, lots of small bubble carbonation, soapy, resin mouth feel. Finishes bitter with notes of stone fruits, pine and earthy grass like textures. This is one of the best IPAs in the country in my opinion.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Call me crazy, but this is not the best IPA Iíve had. That said, itís awesome. A good hoppy aroma. With a clean palate, my first taste was the overwhelming bitterness. That probably lowered my overall rating. About halfway through my first beer, though, the malt character caught up, and the bitterness was less pronounced. Itís a beautiful beer in a pilsner glass (my favorite), crystal clear with a nice soapy head. A little pricey here in the Midwest, but Iíll probably buy it again.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
The holy grail of the class. There is a challenger noted earlier this evening but yet, this one remains my highest rated pure IPA. Wonderful concoction.
