By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Incredible. When I want an IPA, nothing will scratch the itch like a Stone IPA (well, maybe Stone Ruination IPA). Simply incredible. I wish there was a way to mainline this stuff.

12 oz. Bottle. Pours a crystal clear golden-orange with a frothy, white head and decent lacing. Great citrus hop aroma. Really smooth and well balanced. The flavor begins with a malty sweetness followed by an assertive grapefruity hop bitterness with a touch of pine. A light to medium body with a medium dry finish.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2009 Bottle: Definitely slight pine and citrus smell. Nice dark amber color with off white head. Very citrusy with an intense bitter finish. Iíve never have been a big fan of extra hoppy flavor, but I íve gotta say I really like this one.

Excellent IPA. Golden hued pour with off-white foam head. Great citrus/pine hop and floral hop aroma. First taste and you know what youíre in for. Dominated by bittersweet hoppiness and a long, surprisingly smooth, hoppy finish. Notes of spices and fruits detail the body. Better than Dogfish 60. Its only problem is the price tag for a 6-pack.

Pours light orange with an enormous white, frothy head. Looks incredible. You can smell the alcohol through the aromas of citrus. The flavor is heavier on citrus than hops to me. Very dry, alcoholic, and bitter on the finish.

12oz bottle. Pour was a hazy orange with a finger of off-white head that took some time to disappear. The aroma is fantastic. Notes of apricot, grapefruit and tropical fruits. Mouth....where do I begin. Delicious! The fruitiness hits the palette right away with a mild hop bite. Grapefruit and apricot through to a somewhat dry finish. Good lacing. Very tasty.

Just gross. Super hoppy, to say the least. I wish it had a nose better than basic hops. Ps, appearance was pleasant.

- cloudy, orangey/amber color, light white head, brussels lace, well-hopped with a malty mix in the aroma, just a touch of sweetness typical in English ales; excellent flavor, well-hopped, but well mixed with the malt flavors, just a touch of sweetness in the aftertaste, bitter at the beginning, a great IPA, one of the best Iíve ever had

In a word, boring. It's such a highly-regarded brew, perhaps my expectations were just too high! Incredible golden color, like bottled sunshine! Amazing! But the flavor was too single-note. Super hoppy, sure, but nothing special, nothing to run back to. Like a quick hop fix, or a rush of any kind; ultimately not truly satisfying.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2004 Ahhh... such a masterpiece here. Pours a deep gold with a fluffy white head. The head commonly sticks around till the beer is gone, and leaves decent lacing all the way down. The aroma is quite hoppy and wonderful. The taste... wow. Wonderful fresh hop flavor balanced by the ideal amount of sweet, light malts. Perfectly bitter too. Malts kind of creep around the sides, evident but recognizing their place in this beer. Body and mouthfeel are just flawless... wow. I love this IPA. Itís not my favorite... but it is damn near perfect. Iíve been lucky enough to have had it bottled and on tap quite a bit in the last week- on tap the hops are a bit fresher tasting and more evident, but itís definately very similar. :) (edited on 6/10 because apparently I had a cascade pellet stuck in my nose.)
