By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

bottle. nice orange color with usual white head that lasts for awhile. full of hops, not overly bitter. well balanced beer that does not overwhelm in complexity of taste. good introductory i.p.a. for those discovering the micro’s.

Clear bright gold. Very fine white head settles to an incomplete cap leaving nice lacing. Nice mix of bready and crackery malts provide a solid base for bright citric hops. Pretty classic AIPA here! Bright and lively in the mouth. Medium body with excellent balance of malt and hops, both of which are distinctly American in character. Good length, ending with a snappy bitterness. Carbonation is a little high, which dries the mouth, but that’s a niggle really. Very drinkable, and my favorite of the "standard" Stone offerings by far.

Golden in color with an off white head. Nose of hops. On the palate it is citrusy with a slight bitterness and is somewhat light for an IPA. Clean, crisp and refreshing with a bit of pine on the finish.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2009 smells very much like centennial hops a little piney pretty good aroma. pours a nice color and tastes pretty balanced with the centennial hops coming through, the only thing i would say is that i’m not the biggest fan of centennial they just don’t have the kick.

Clear golden with about finger of white fluffy head. Aroma is fantastic! Hops, grapefruit, piney, dank, and some good sweetness. Taste follows the aroma almost perfect. The sweetness with the malt profile blend so great with the hops used. Nice bitterness and the piney resin left on the tongue is really nice! Overall; always a go to IPA. Cheers!

Got a 22 oz bomber from my local liquor store. Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard are the only 2 Stone brews available in Texas, so I tend to take these beers for granted. Poured a 1 finger head into my imperial pint glass. Color is light amber. Aroma is floral citrusy, powerful for an IPA. taste is just the right balance between maltiness and hop bite that I expect from an IPA. Drinkability: I could drink a lot of this but I usually get a lower abv ipa for a session beer. Extremely well balanced. Stone, you haven’t let me down yet. Serving type: bottle

Tasted: draft at Stokesay Castle , Reading , Pa. Orange, yellow color. Solid 2 finger head that lasts. Aroma of grassy hops and some citrus fruit. A very pleasant hoppy aroma. Taste is awesome. Starts with the citrus flavor ( apricot, pineapple) and moves to the light caramel of the body. Finishes with a grassy/ piney hop with a touch of lasting citrus. This beer is mega hopped but balanced nicely. Medium body and carbonation. The various hops work well together. A hoppy muddle masterpiece. Great beer.

Positively glows golden with a nice foamy head. Plenty of resiny hops on the nose. The hops make their presence known pretty quickly, the caramel malt quickly gives way to the hops that take you to the finish. Medium bodied.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2004 All Stone IPA variants rule, but their standard IPA is the best. Strong, complex hops are supported by a surprisingly good malt backbone throughout. Every aspect of the profile has been addressed in a masterful way. Stone's cheesy marketing campaign is completely blown away by the very high quality of this brew. One of the top IPA's of all time..... immensely excellent.
