By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

I have not had a better IPA. Stone Ruination IPA may be better in some very rigorous sense of the word. It is like the Platonic IPA -- all others mere reflections, or maybe mixed with a touch of lager. But this isn't intimidating and over the psychotic top like the ruination. It's drinkable any time, requiring no mental steeling, no palate flexing. Deep, slightly cloudy orange. Looks rather like the beer on the cover of Michael Jackson's Ultimate Beer. Beautiful. Piney aroma, modest bitterness, basically, just incredible.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2009 Orange body with gold highlight and frothy polished white creamy top, semi-transparent. Smells like Belium Dubbel ale, white chocolate, caramel and toffee. Tastes like a lighter Double as well with light hops, caramel, and butter. Light midway bite. Expecting more of a hoppier IPA.

Mat yellow colour, slightly hazy with medium head. Smell of pine, grass and some malts. Taste is nicely bitter, pungent but not overdone, citrus, pine, grass with a hint of sweetness and a malty aftertaste of bread. Palate is dry. I really like this.

Great Great IPA, I’m not a huge IPA fan, but this one def rises above many others that I’ve had. Its got a fresh hoppy aroma and great deep golden appearance. The burst of hop flavor is smoothed by a citrus aftertaste. Very drinkable!!

Finally got to try some off the tap after consuming countless bombers. Hazy orange body with foamy off-white head. Full floral nose with plenty of citrus and pine. Hops overpower, but don't dominate the smooth malt flavors from initial taste to finish. The standard-bearer of IPAs deserves all of the praise it gets.

Close to my ideal beer. Sampled on draught at Tria in Philadelphia, PA, which incidentally is a GREAT beer bar and well worth a trip. Big rocky white head tops a pale, clear, slightly orange body. Huge hop nose, very flowery. Initial sip knocks you back with bitterness but subsequently sips reveal a subtle complexity. Stone managed to get the right balance between maltiness and hoppiness. The resut is a full bodied beer that just seems right. Very refreshing and thirst quenching, although a bit too high in alcohol to be my session beer.....

Poured amber with a slight haze. Small white head with lots of lacing. Huge hop aroma and flavor. A highly sessionable IPA. One of the west coast greats. REPRESENT!

22oz bottle. golden orange with a decent cream head that dissipates leaving traces on the glass. Aroma is very hoppy with a hint of wood. Taste is full of hops with a grapefruit bitterness. Finishes dry with no excessively bitte aftertaste, just a hint of that grapefruit..

Mild aroma compared to most ipas. Flavor is nothing to write home about. Hazy brown orange hue. Its an IPA and that’s about it.
