By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

If you’re just starting out on IPA’s, I would suggest Stone. Just the right amount of bitterness and hops. Almost textbook of what a great American IPA should be Nothing too over or under powering. Even more crisp on tap, enjoy!

On tap-I live this beer in tap. Really is at the maximum of my hop preference. Very dry yet somehow refreshing. Stone is a great brewer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Outstanding ipa, nice colour, crisp bitter finish and the hop aroma lingers. One of the elite.

Stone’s IPA, to me, represents everything wrong with the current beer trend. One day, people will look back at this obsession with hops and realize what a bizarre palate people in this day and age. That’s not to say hops are bad. No. But, excessive bittering hops, without any counter balance, are. And, Stone IPA, to me, represents that extreme. It comes off with this nasty medicinal bittering taste akin to aspirin. There is also this strong after taste that lingers on the palate for days. I couldn’t get rid of that aspirin like linger on my palate even days after finishing off a Stone multipack. It was just nasty, and I vowed to swear off Stone forever. Contrast this with more floral IPA’s such as Pliny the Elder or Simtra triple IPAs. With these brews, there is a more floral, sweet aroma and taste that finishes very clean and dry. Very little after taste. The predominant use of simcoe and amarillo hops gives those beers their characteristic aromatic hoppy smells and tastes that, I think, isn’t emphasized enough nowadays in the single IPA.

What a great beer. Stone IPA presents with a golden amber color and a slight haze.An obvious hops aroma was present the minute the beer was poured. Despite the vast amount of hops this beer is incredibly well balanced.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2004 Sweet hops of toasted lemons. Spicey notes maybe cinnamon. Copper beauty nice amber waves of grain. Thought this would be the 1. Why should l try to fool myself and settle for less. Lovely flavor large flowery bouquet that is hendered by temp. Yet in all still satisfyingly crisp abundent to thirst.

12 oz. bottle. a light aroma of sweet, bitter hop. pours a thin white head, semi cloudy gold. flavor of bitter hop, sweet banana. subtle malts and fine hop content for i p a. dry after taste, far from overpowering , as some over hopped i p a ’s can be. this is a fine i p a, but not a ’99 ’ for me.

Bottle. Clear golden amber color with a slight light cream frothy head. An easy to drink IPA that is not complex and has a great flavor. Strong hops which give you a tasty dry bitterness.

Excellent IPA that delivers everything you want in a good beer. Bitter but well balanced, this beer is worthy of being in the regular rotation for certain. If you haven’t tried this beauty yet do yourself a favor and grab some.
