A: Golden straw color with a small, very small, amount of white foam that dissipates quickly. Not much carbonation to speak of. S: Lots of citrus, most notable is lemon. There is also a mild pine scent. Not much malt to speak of. T: A wonderful and powerful bitterness. Very piney, but also slight lemony notes. Again, not much malt shining through. M: Very crisp beer with a lingering bitterness. D: Highly drinkable, but watch out for this one, it will bite when you’re not looking at 6.9%.

Growler. Super-solid IPA. Pours a nice, light orange-gold with a fine white head. Heavy aroma of bitter hops, noting pine and citrus. Flavor is a hop roller coaster: exciting and exhilarating. (None of the experience made me want to hurl, mind you.) Very mild hints of malt. Alcohol is almost undetectable. Bitter, crisp, lip-smacking finish with lingering hops on the tongue. Really, really good.

Bottle from Lithy, thanks! Orange blonde color. Malty perfumed grapefruit aroma with pineapple. Sweet but oily hopbitter, perfumed flavor. Mint, grapefruit and pineapple. The perfume spoils the fun a bit, this would have been a great beer otherwise.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2003 Bottled: Orange golden coloured. Has a medium lasting head. Aroma has notes of earth and flowers. Flvaour is hops, hops, hops, hops and ..... Boy oh boy. My palate was carpetbombed with hops. Quite pleasant, really, with this massive bitterness in the palate. If this is gonna be the standard of the 6 californian beers i've traded from herbjones, i'm gonna be a lucky man!

Cask conditioned at The White Horse, Parsons Green, London. Hazed gold with white head. Quite a fruity beer with good hop character, the best beer in this Festival for me, a little flat but still very drinkable. Lemony citrus body, quite powerful and drying. A pretty decent beer.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2011 December 2003: Very nice resinous, floral hops aroma. In my mouth there is a marriage of hops and ,malts, with some citrus dancing around.... very good! 7-3-8-4-15

Double Dry Hopped version on tap at Oregon Brewer’s Fest, July 31 2011: An orange amber IPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, pungent and fragrant floral hops, resinous, with a bit of catnip. In outh, a good biscuitty malt with very resinous pungent hops, mentol, coniferous, quite nice and challenging. 8-3-8-4-15
