3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Hazy orange/gold with a large head. Aromas are caramel, pine and spices, quite sweet and surprisingly floral - also, alcohol. Flavours are caramel malts with pepper and spices, followed by bitter hops. Lots of pepper on the finish. Very good.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle, enjoy by 05.03.10, I wish they had the bottled on date since it is an IPA.
Pours into my american pint glass with a nice gold color and a foamy and rocky white head that takes a bit to recede leaving gobs of lacing.
It has a decent smell though not overly intense. It is very citrusy and zesty with also some herbal grassiness. There isn’t much malt to the scent of this beer.
It is smooth and hoppy with a good amount of biscuity malt backing and a nice bitter finish. Luscious but insanely drinkable. This is the quintessential quaffing IPA.
The mouthfeel is nice and medium bodied. This stuff is so easy to put back, it is like drinking water, far higher drinkability than a light beer especially when it is nice and warmed up.
Overall a great pick for American IPA if you want a superb quaffing beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2009 Light golden color with a full head. Smells like apples, little like peaches, almost like apple cider, very sweet aroma. Wow, so bittersweet, very dry, with very full and enjoyable hop flavors. Not as sweet as it smells, but more balanced.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2011 Lawnmower clippings blowing over honeyed malts...Floral fruitiness surfing grapefruit rinds into a portentous wooden, resinous bitterness...This is a very good IPA, a super clean and very drinkable example of the West Coast’s finest...

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark gold, with a nice white head and great lacing. I swear I saw the Taj Mahal in my lace! Very hoppy aroma, with some citrus. Tastes very hoppy, with a dry, bitter hoppiness. Finishes very smooth and complex, with a creamy, hoppy, great mouthfeel. A delicious IPA, and worth seeking out. One of the best, as usual, from Stone.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 11, 2007 Oct 2007. Lightly hazy orange body with a modest creamy off white head. Modest resiny hop aroma. Moderate bitterness throughout, light resiny character, very muted citrus notes. Smooth average to medium palate. Hops are pleasant but surprisingly muted. May have sat in the cellar just a bit too long. 7/3/7/3/15.

May 2004 Rerate - Hoppier aroma and a lot more resiny than the previous sample. Upped the aroma and overall 1 pt each.

May 2004. Thanks for bringing this great find Radek! (and Tim for the wee bottle I took home with me) Golden yellow colour with a solid white head. Nice hoppy aroma and plent of hoppy bitterness but not nearly as much of either as I expected. Fairly well balanced which I was not expecting either. Very drinkable, and a very nice beer but a bit disappointing. I will likely re-rate with the bottle in the fridge and a fresher palate.

12 oz. bottle, pours a vibrant orange with a white head. Aroma of grassy hops, citrus, pine and floral notes. Great hoppy flavour, with a nice bitter finish. Smooth, creamy palate. Wonderful IPA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at Brewdog Aberdeen. It pours cloudy amber, with a massive white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, nectarine, honey and grass. The taste is pine, resin, citrus pith, grapefruit, hay, grass, floral and spice, with a bitter-dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Good stuff, but not quite as amazing as other ratings suggest.
