Happy hoppy flavor with a kick. Look for their Anniversary brews of this beer, and if you are in the SD area, look for Stone’s annual Anniversary party, it’s a blast every year. Crisp, clean, flavorful and refreshing it is everything an IPA should be. Hats off to the Stone Brewing Company for giving us such an outstanding ale. NWHopHead99 (58), Tacoma, Washington, USA

No uncharecteristic flavors like the Maritime IPA, just liquid hops. What is particularly lovely about this brew is the enourmous hop-nose: I spent 5 minutes just SMELLING the glass! Obviously a lot of dry-hopping, but hops is the main ingrediant at every level of this beer. The flavor backs up the hops with a strong enough bite and carbonation to distinguish it from Tree’s IPA, which has no body behind the hops. I had the Full Sail IPA the night before, and almost poured the bottle out for lack of hops. God bless Stone Brewing for this perfect beverage! kevinconaway99 (9), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jun 12, 2002 One of my all time favorite beers. Tastes wonderful almost like licorice! beerbaby99 (4), California, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Aug 10, 2002 over the top Dermis (19), Monona, Wisconsin, USA

Tingles the tip of your tongue at first, then comes a wonderful blast of hops all over and, finally finishes with bitter on the back sides. Being a prodominant fan of Weissebier I was very impressed with this beer. It has renewed my opinion of IPA. gyruss77 (3), La Jolla, California, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Mar 7, 2003 If you've never tasted this beer, you, my friend, are in for a real treat. It has a very crisp taste to it. You need to try it very, very cold-almost freezing, to bring out that awesome taste. Stone Pale Ale, I.P.A. and Arrogant Bastard Ale, are quite simply the finest beers in the world. Haven't tried Double Bastard yet. It's hard to find, because it's a seasonal brew. Looking forward to it though! : ) michaeltrego (101), Amherst, New Hampshire, USA

Nicely golden and a glorious head. What type of hops do they use? It has a wonderful hoppy flavor, but is not overpowering like most IPA's that try to go over the top. Way better than the other IPA variations that Stone is offering. I just wish I lived near the brewery because a 6-pack cost 10.95 in Mass. Ouch!
