3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Orangish amber body with a nice floral, piney, citrusy and hoppy nose. Very thin head. The tongue had hops on it but seemed thinner than the Ruination and it finishes drier than the Ruination. This is still a damn tasty beer, though. Bitter with a slight sweetness. Finishes dry but with a smooth aftertaste. Good beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rocky, white head. No visible carbonation. Sweet aroma of grapefruit and PNW hops. Hazy, medium golden color. Very bitter, however not a 90 Minute IPA, and I presume certainly not a 120 Min. IPA, I guess I'll have to drink that first. Grapefruit. Light on the tongue. If you like lots of hops, you will like this.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very nice aroma--grapefruit and a touch of orange and other citrus. But the flavor disappoints me--less rich and more acidic. There are plenty of UK beers that are better drinking experiences than this because they achieve a better balance, although this one charges mightly at the malts too. Good palate, carbonation but not oppressive, smooth. Good head though plain color.

Very hoppy. Loads of cascade. Great refreshment. Unfortunately the finish is slightly thin and short.

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 24, 2004 I prefer this to the overdone Ruination. The floral aroma is interesting in its strength and durability, but the flavor is slightly unbalanced (a source of pride for Stone), as all the hops come up front. There is an admirable chewy thickness and livliness that is enjoyable. I'm still not a Stone devotee. Crisp finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap (5/03/04): I think this is the beer I had (not anniversary). Pours with a golden, clear color with a nice frothy, white head. Aroma: lemon, hops, spice, orange. Flavor: initial sour lemon, orange rind, citrus, hops, dish soap, apple. Aftertaste: sweet lemon, fortune cookie.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks Radek! Appearance is a golden colour with a white as can be head. Aroma is hoppy......very hoppy. Cascade hops here? Anyway, the smell makes your mouth water. Taste is hoppy bitterness to the max. Everything about this beer is hops and bitterness up the ying yang. Nice one Stone!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very bold and fruity but a bit creamier than most IPA’s. A very good offering. I hope to find more Stone IPA variations to compare against.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Medium amber w/ a lasting white head. Lemony citrus & toasty malt; medium fruitiness, malt also lighly bready, but citrusy hop dominates. Seems to be lightly solventy piney/hairspray aroma when it warms. Well balanced w/ a citrus hop flavor, a little too well balanced IMHO for an IPA, bu t I didn’t make it! Light caramel, malty, hop flavored finish & aftertaste. Drier m/f, alcohol a little warming, but mostly well hidden, medium body. I’m still not a hop head, but fully enjoyable for an IPA. Not quite as bitter as I expected, especially from Stone, but still very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours light brown/orange with a fairly small, white head that almost completely disappears. Aroma is hops, slight alcohol, honey, and perhaps slight citrus. Flavor is immediately slightly malty sweet and very, very hoppy, with a tiny alcohol warmth on the way down; pronounced grassiness in the middle. Aftertaste is remarkably bitter, but pretty clean. Not as clean and crisp on the palate as I’d like, wth a slighty syrupiness to the beer. Is this a 4.1? Hell, no. Really good, IPA, though? Sure.
