Had on tap, it’s a glassful of pale gold ale with a small head. The mild aroma has some minor hoppy and citrusy notes. The laid-back taste surprised me because it did NOT come on strong. Medium mouthfeel somewhat watery with soft carbonation; not high on my list of crafty American IPAs.

Poured a golden amber colour with a thick white foamy head. Laced well. Moderate carbonation. Aroma dominated by hops. Taste dominated by hops - quite bitter on tongue. Medium body. Very long bitter hops finish.

Had this beer on 9/12/2003. Aroma is full of a nice hop scent. Color is bright gold with a few light flakes floating around that look a bit like fish food. Carbonation is light with a thin head. Taste hoppy. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a malty taste coming on. Finish builds with the malt fading out and turning to a full bitterness. Its not as balanced as it should be, the bitterness is too strong and the hop flavor is too week

A grey market import bottle from beerstore.co.nz, so its not up to its best. But here it is anyway: Pours golden, thin white head. Aroma is sweet, with a hint of piny citrus hop, candyish malt. Bitterness dominates initially, a nice unique hop character, with a balancing caramelly malt.

Hell, disappointed by this one. Expected much better from one of the mother breweries. Maybe it’s because Ruination was so awesome that this one just pales in comparison.

Sample at Rozi’s Wine House Stone Brewing Co. Event. Poured a cloudy yellow/orange color with white head. A little piney aroma and a bubbly mouth feel with smooth finish and alcohol aftertaste. Not my favorite IPA but certainly decent.

I know IPA fanboys will hate me for this, but I really didn’t care for this one.

In a word, boring. It's such a highly-regarded brew, perhaps my expectations were just too high! Incredible golden color, like bottled sunshine! Amazing! But the flavor was too single-note. Super hoppy, sure, but nothing special, nothing to run back to. Like a quick hop fix, or a rush of any kind; ultimately not truly satisfying.
