A delight for hop heads everywhere. I like to let this age about six months. The malt comes through a bit more and the hops mellow out a but. But I should advance this disclaimer: Iím NOT a hophead. Quality stuff to be sure, but I donít like sage brush/pine aromas to prevail over my mug. When Iím in the mood, nothing else will do, though.

SO this is Stone IPA. This was everything that reminds me of west Coast. The citrus, the hops, the cremy flavor, the orange jello color. This was pretty bitter for just a regular IPA but not bad. Very light and easy to drink. Thanks again Shag

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2011 A great IPA. Excellent balance between hop flavor and just a touch of malts. Would buy any day of the week.

12 oz bottle. Excellent amber color. Floral and hoppy aroma. I found the floral overtones a bit too overwhelming. Not my favorite IPA, but still a darn good beer.

Sweet,, juicy citrus aroma, passionefruit. Gold shining amber with whitish small tight head. Bitter metallic oranges. Tinny, mostly fine hopspice.

12oz bottle, shared with VeloVampire - I had high expectations for this beer, following itís fantastic reputation. Given that this is a good beer, I canít help but feel it is overrated. It pours a nice golden yellow with a bit of amber that is typical for the style. The head was white and fleeting. Aroma is a big hoppy blast, and quite sweet in the nose. Nothing terribly surprising or complicated happening, but definitely an inviting citrusy aroma. The flavour expands upon the scent, amplifying what youíd expect and making it bigger in the mouth. Very sweetly hoppy and citrusy off the top, with some orange flavours playing, followed by a solidly crisp and bitter finish. It didnít take my socks off and slap me around with them, but this is still a solid IPA. Iíve had better though, and I think this one might glide by on itís "bad boy" reputation a bit more than it deserves. Had back to back with the Smuttynose IPA which I thought was much more complex and superior.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2006 Great off-white frothy head lasting a good part of the beer. Clear sparkling body but did notice tiny body particles and a thin density. Brilliant amber IPA coloring convinced me to drink.

Heavy hops aroma, slight lemon but more grapefruit/orange; quite like a fruit punch. Light yeast aroma that I thought was a bit meaty, more so as I finishes the glass. Initially lightly sweet and acidic, this IPA finishes with the acidity elevating to a moderate bite and lasts quite short. Fairly full bodied as it is an IPA and a bit dry but has a lively carbonation. This a very good IPA even though it left a slight metallic feel in the mouth.

This golden ale poured with a modest off-white head that dissipated right away. The flavor is citrus and pine with a long bitter finish. Iím not much of hop-head but, even though it is very heavily hopped, this brew is balanced enough to be quite enjoyable.

Bottle from Virginia. The aroma is fantastic with tons of hops and sweet caramel malt. The appearance is deep gold with a foamy head. The flavor is very bitter with plenty of sweet malt to balance. The palate is smooth. A very good IPA.
