Bottle Grassy and piney hop aroma. Amber, low carbonation, lowish head. Hop base, malt still detectable, but the balance is evident. Medium to light body, sparkly mouthfeel. Bitterhop aftertaste.

bottle from brickskeller. color: pale gold. aroma is hoppy, but more herbal than most american IPAs. flavor is fairly hoppy, still piney despite the aromaís indication. a little light on the malt for my taste.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2010 Is this beer really that good? Donít get me wrong, a very pleasant highly hopped and modern style but just not mind blowing. Hops show good complexity with metallic hardness, aniseed and a grainy farmyard character early. The best showing I have seen and clearly this bottle was in better nick than a Purvis-sourced sample from 2008.

Funny beer. Nose shows some faint hope sweetness and a funky, dirty fruit note. Not really hoppy at all in terms of aromas, at least in the traditional sense. Mild palate weight with elegant fruity notes before a harder metallic-like character kicks in.

As can be expected from the marque a full flavoured in your face interpretation. Mild herbal nose with some fruity ale traits. Very similar early in the palate before giving way to some full throttled hop action. Long, strong finish, but just a touch too abrasive at the end. Served by the bottled at RFD in Washington

Sampled at the monthly meeting of the Champaign-Urbana beer club along with a few other tasty IPAs. Thanks to Andy (or Noah?) for bringing it. Its a decent IPA but nothing to rave about imo. A reasonable hop bite with some malt backbone. Some notes of lemon and orange peel blend in with a bit of grass/straw. The amount of carbonation distracted. This didnít used to be the case, but these days Iíd drink Ruination over this.

A delight for hop heads everywhere. I like to let this age about six months. The malt comes through a bit more and the hops mellow out a but. But I should advance this disclaimer: Iím NOT a hophead. Quality stuff to be sure, but I donít like sage brush/pine aromas to prevail over my mug. When Iím in the mood, nothing else will do, though.

Draught. Clear yellow-orange color with porous white head that laced the glass. Sprucy hop nose and flavor with some grapefruit undertones. There is moderate hop bitterness up front that wanes fairly quickly.

SO this is Stone IPA. This was everything that reminds me of west Coast. The citrus, the hops, the cremy flavor, the orange jello color. This was pretty bitter for just a regular IPA but not bad. Very light and easy to drink. Thanks again Shag

Bottle. Light amber with a rather modest head, more like a thin film. Fruity aroma that is not very pronounced. The flavours are more interesting with a good deal of complexity- fruits, a hint of caramel, though generally very dry. Rounded and not too biting hop flavours. Good mouthfeel. A very pleasant IPA.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2011 A great IPA. Excellent balance between hop flavor and just a touch of malts. Would buy any day of the week.
