By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Great to come back to an old favourite. Wow that’s more bitter than I remembered. Refreshingly so. Not too subtle at all. Great blend of a lot of pine and some citrus from the hops. A little sweetness from the malt. Packs a serious punch.

0.355 l bottle from FIRMA BIER, no bb date. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Intense, sweetish-fruity aroma of orange blossom, mango, honey, resin and tangerine. Sweetish, fruity-resiny taste of orange blossom, tangerine, mango, honey, caramel and pine, followed by a medium long, medium bitter and slightly warming finish. Medium body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Assumingly a bit past its prime according to Stone’s freshness definition but nevertheless a very good beer. Nicely balanced, not intrusive, great palate, just round.

A 12 fl oz bottle with a bottled date of 21th July 2015 and an enjoy by date of 19th October 2015. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It poured a clear golden copper colour with a one finger white head that had good retention and leaves nice spotty lacing. Aromas were fainter than I expected but starts with tropical mango and pineapple before turning to pine, grass and citrus lemon zest. Tastewise, there was none of the tropicalness from the smell, but strong lemon zest, hop bitterness, floral and grassiness. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Overall, this was only just ok for me. It wasn’t bad and I would drink it again but for example I prefer Stone’s Go To IPA.

Never been an IPA fan, so I can’t say I cared for the hoppy aroma much at all. Nevertheless, I found it very fresh and drinkable.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2006 Orangey-gold colour. Rich woody nose with orange, toast, peach, kumquat. Long hoppy palate, some biscuity pale malts. Standard issue stuff, moderate bitterness and a bit fruitier and more approachable than most examples.

Firm white head, short lived. Hazy orange/gold color. Spotty laceing. Clean, piney, resiny nose. Medium body. Aromas roll over into the flavor dept., with some minimal maltiness backing them up. Finish is dry. I expected more from this brew, top 50 material? I think not. Good brew but the Victory Hop Devil kicks the Stone gargoyles ass! In this case anyway.

Hoppy brew for hopheads, I liked it but I could not drink a lot of it, too hoppy for my tastes.
