By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Bottle: Medium amber w/ a lasting white head. Lemony citrus & toasty malt; medium fruitiness, malt also lighly bready, but citrusy hop dominates. Seems to be lightly solventy piney/hairspray aroma when it warms. Well balanced w/ a citrus hop flavor, a little too well balanced IMHO for an IPA, bu t I didn’t make it! Light caramel, malty, hop flavored finish & aftertaste. Drier m/f, alcohol a little warming, but mostly well hidden, medium body. I’m still not a hop head, but fully enjoyable for an IPA. Not quite as bitter as I expected, especially from Stone, but still very good.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2005 This is a damn good IPA. IPA’s are soon becoming one of my favorite styles of beers. This ale starts out with a stong aftertaste, but once you taste buds get acclamated then its smooooth sailing from here on in. This beer has a crisp beginning with a mildly bitter after taste. For the money there is no IPA better than this one. Go out and get it!

pours a clear orange with a small white head. armoa is sweet and hoppy. taste is a nice grassy hoppy taste but pretty well balanced with sweetness. grapefruit goodness. good somewhat resiny mouthfeel. very drinkable.

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2010 A good IPA in the West Coast microbrew tradition. Good aromatics and crispness with a downplayed malt character. Restrained citrus and resin in the nose and taste gives way to clean bitterness in the finish.

Very nice floral aroma, nice medium orange color with normal white head. Plenty of hops in the palate and a very dry hoppy finish. Well balanced, but overall, not as hoppy as I expected, and not as good as a Sierra Nevada.

bottle. nice orange color with usual white head that lasts for awhile. full of hops, not overly bitter. well balanced beer that does not overwhelm in complexity of taste. good introductory i.p.a. for those discovering the micro’s.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2007 Love the puffy lasting white head. Maltier flavor than I was expecting, still well balanced though. Drinkable and smooth. Great every day drinker for the hop head. Certainly a respectable IPA but not worthy of a 99, imo.

Oh yeah.. this is one hoppy beer. Cool and refreshing the whole time. Not much of a bite though, which I love. The aftertaste is bittersweet, rich with hops. It’s almost a perfumy taste at the very end. Very unusual, but good. Not something I would drink too much of in one sitting, a little too rich for my blood.

Bitter, bitter. Just past my bitter limit, I stress just. I knew going in that this should be expected. Good flavour and aroma. Still a very good beer. I would like to try this with different food to get a better sense of the beer.
