By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

12oz Bottle poured golden copper with an orange tint. You know the drill, HOPS on the nose. Very citrusy. Taste is very citrusy as well almost fruity. Has a unique flavor that I canít detect. Overall another good beer from Stone. Have Another? yeah

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2014 Pours hazy bright gold into a pint glass, off white lumpy head dies into body in about a minute, spotty lacing with rings, smell has pale malts and hops, some floral notes come out as the beer warms, well balanced, taste is citrus, becomes balanced well between the hops and malts; palate is medium, crisp and clean, sessionable, nothing harsh on the tongue, no aftertaste, piney and malty finish, overall, this is a mostly easy drinking IPA. Iím impressed how well balanced everything is in this beer. I would have this again.

March 2013 - cold bottle on my birthday. My 501st beer since I started recording. The best Stone beer Iíve had so far. Like an artificial sweet with some astringent bitterness. Mild lemon? Not much fruit, not particularly floral either - bit of parma violets. Iím finding it hard to place the flavour. Grapefruit is too easy a comparison. Drying. Reminds me of a few of the Kernel beers. Overall, itís an above average IPA.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a dark gold with a tow inch beige head that lasts. Taste is of hops, pine, citrus, resin, malt and caramel. Has a cleaner, hoppy aroma. The body is creamy and a bit thick. Has a nice, dry and bitter finish that lingers. Overall, a pretty good IPA.

Pours clear, amber/orange with a good size head of white foam that fell almost reasonably to a thick cap; leaving some monstrously stubborn lace. Nose is big with lemon, floral and herbal, citrus, lime and a nice soft spice under all the fruit. Not a lot of malt on the nose. Just a hint of bread and some caramel sweetness. As it warms the lemon sweetens deeply and so does the caramel. Taste is colossal. Fruit washes over the palate a bit too quickly and meets a heavy resin for a bitter that starts mid palate. Bread shows up in back with some light biscuit right before an oily pine blast. Finishes slick with a powerful bitter that lasts long into a finish that isnít really dry as much as pithy and sour. Body is thin and while the malt constantly approaches it never rounds out and so this leaves a touch imbalanced Moderate to low carbonation.

This was a strong, beer that grows on you as you drink. I didnít find the same cocky personality in this that I have found in other Stone beers and I think I missed that. I also think that the fruit character suffered in the attempt to make it intensely bitter without provoking it sufficiently first. The malt came out more and more to show that it was indeed stronger than you might have realized. The hop character engaged you more and more as well as the expansive bitter just kept unfolding and at the end of the bottle I was mysteriously satisfied.

Keg in New York. Pale amber colour. Nice tropical fruit aroma. Sweet, toffee, honey, tropical fruit taste with a slightly saccharine aftertaste and not a huge amount of bitterness. It's decent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bright golden yellow pour with receding head. Aromas of grapefruit, resin. Soft cereal malt backing. Hop story here. Bitter but not aggressive. Fragrant but not especially potent. Cleansing mouthfeel. Bitter finish. Very west coast.

A- filtered gold with 1 finger fluffy off-white head and incredible lacing. Poured into a pint glass at Roam burger, SF. S-grapefruit is nice up front, with your standard fresh pine, soap and hops to follow. M- crisp and fresh with some stickiness. Medium bodied and good carb. T- grapefruit and resin are strong in the beginning and last throughout. Pine and soap come in just after. Not complex but refreshing and enjoyable.

Pours a crystal clear, light golden color with what seems an eternal soapy-sudsy off-white head. Mown grass, pine, and green onion bouquet. Very wet and massively palate-wrecking mouthfeel. Extraordinarily hopped. Citrus dominates. Stone over aggressiveness.

Hard to believe this is my very first time drinking Stone IPA. Fresh, earthy hop aroma supported by juicy/tropical hops.

Fruity and citric hop profile initially; far less "West Coast" than I expected. Beautiful hop/malt balance. Despite disliking most Single IPAs, I can actually see myself buying this one.
