Bomber. Aroma is dominated by pine with some citrus notes. Itís similar to the pale ale, but stronger and sharper. Color is a clear blonde with a thin white head. Flavor is piney, sharply bitter, lasing into the finish--very one dimensional. Some warming. Overall, pretty disappointing beer. One dimensional, very light, bitter, lacking malt to balance and not nearly as much hop flavor as Iíd like. This finished near the bottom of the pack in a blind tasting of 8 IPAs.

Had this beer on 9/12/2003. Aroma is full of a nice hop scent. Color is bright gold with a few light flakes floating around that look a bit like fish food. Carbonation is light with a thin head. Taste hoppy. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp with a malty taste coming on. Finish builds with the malt fading out and turning to a full bitterness. Its not as balanced as it should be, the bitterness is too strong and the hop flavor is too week

Hell, disappointed by this one. Expected much better from one of the mother breweries. Maybe it’s because Ruination was so awesome that this one just pales in comparison.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2010 transcribed from a super old rating. 12 oz. bottle tasted blind. pours hazy gold with little white head. Solid aroma of jasmine and lemon. Unfortunately, something just tasted off and out of balance for this IPA and the bitterness just did not work for my palate. Super dry crisp clean mouthfeel with solid carbonation and a quick finish. Overall, a solid IPA, representative of what Stone does with hops.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2009 Aroma seems much weaker than I was expecting. Flavor is big hops, citrus and clean, bracing bitterness. Alcohol taste seems right up front, too, not at all hidden. The first 12 oz. was great, but everything here is so intense that it was not easy to finish the whole 22 oz. bomber.

Sample at Roziís Wine House Stone Brewing Co. Event. Poured a cloudy yellow/orange color with white head. A little piney aroma and a bubbly mouth feel with smooth finish and alcohol aftertaste. Not my favorite IPA but certainly decent.

A grey market import bottle from beerstore.co.nz, so its not up to its best. But here it is anyway: Pours golden, thin white head. Aroma is sweet, with a hint of piny citrus hop, candyish malt. Bitterness dominates initially, a nice unique hop character, with a balancing caramelly malt.

IPAs are not my favorites - normally, but I got this by mistake and really enjoyed it. Certainly it has the requisite amount of hops and then some but I fine it to be particularly well balanced. The bitterness is down from what one might expect and the overall taste is really very good

Extra golden in color, this is a very solid IPA. Lots of hops up front with a nice bitter flavor and finish. This is not the best tasting IPA Iíve had, but is one of the most refreshing.
