What else can you say? Simply the standard. Been blessed to drink this regularly for several years now. Piney, resiny nose and taste reminds me of the Ponderosa pines growing right outside my door and never fails to deliver. I occasionally wander off looking for something for something new like we all do, but this is really the gold standard by which all the others are measured. Perfect? Well, for now at least. Maybe a little too malty for some occasions, but that’s really an extremely minor nitpick. This beer should not be allowed to be rated by mere mortals, it’s that good!

Aroma has pine and citrus on the head. Pours golden clear with good lacing and head. Finishes with light bitterness, but not terribly complex. Some sweetness in finish as well. On tap at Blue Monk.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dogfishho (472) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Can't believe I never rated this and also can't believe I've overlooked how great this standard bearer is. Delicious biscuity malts are nearly overwhelmed by piney resiny hops and grapefruit citrus notes. Similar flavors on the palate and super well balanced. This is one of those beers that you always look past for something more interesting or to get a new tick. That's a mistake. This is good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BitchPls (244) - FINLAND - MAY 22, 2013
Copper beer with a big foamy head. Nice fruity and sweet hoppy aroma. Medium body. Soapy, mildly grape fruity, balanced bitterness and sweetness. I’d like to have a chance to enjoy a more fresh batch than this one. This is a very good IPA.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 VoodooBear (32) - San Juan, PUERTO RICO - MAY 19, 2013
Presentation: 22 oz. brown bottle with an "enjoy by" date printed on the neck. Served in a Samuel Adams pint glass.
Appearance: One finger head goes down eventually and stays there until the end. It has a clear, bright gold color, and leaves some very nice lacing.
Smell: The smell is fantastic, with a dominating herbal hop scent and some pine, fruit and spice notes present too.
Taste: This beer has a big hop character, overwhelmingly so. It’s very herbal, spicy and bitter. You’ve gotta love hops to really appreciate the details and character in this. If you don’t it’ll be just another (albeit good) strong, bitter brew.
Moutfeel: It feels creamy, full bodied and smooth. It leaves a tingling sensation on the palate that’s quite curious.
Overall: An amazing brew in every single aspect. If you love hops, IPA’s or just something crisp, bitter and challenging, you’ll love this beer. If you don’t, you’ll probably be put off by the intensity of it all.

Stone IPA is very hoppy but not overally bitter thanks to the malt backbone. Nice mouthfeel and a smooth finish.

This was the beer that opened my mind to a whole new world and I've never turned back. It's a favorite that I always fall back to and will compare all other IPAs to.
