phaleslu (427), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2009 Rating #100. Draft sampled at Cincy Beerfest. I enjoyed the heck out of this; one of the best amber ales I’ve ever tried. I can’t believe it’s only 4.4%, but that makes it the perfect session beer. Pours medium amber with average off-white head. Hops, malt, fruit, and caramel on the nose. Flavor of bitter hops, malt, citrus, caramel, brown sugar. I’m going to be hard pressed to find a better amber ale. oh6gdx (8801), Vasa, Finland Aug 11, 2009 Cask@GBBF2009. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, grass, quite brutally bitter hopping. Flavour is grass, lots of nectar, some floral hops as well as some citrusfruity ntoes. Very good for being "only" 4.4% in ABV. TopTekeUWM (20), Wisconsin, USA Aug 10, 2009 12 oz bottled purchased in Indiana. Moderate hop aroma with some sweet notes. Beer poured amber color with an off white head. Taste is moderate maltiness to a stonger hop flavor but well balanced. Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and leaves an enjoyable hoppy aftertaste. Great beer! mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2009 [2294-20090626] 12floz bottle. Fresh grapefruit flesh soap aroma has hints of evergreen. Slightly hazy, red amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Fresh evergreen tips flavour has lots of citrus flesh. Medium body. Not sour like citrus but is very fresh and a great blend.
(From Premier Gourmet, Buffalo, NY; w/ garthicus, jerc) jlruthven (134), Milledgeville, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2009 My first experience with the milder Stone beer, and I am not disappointed. Nose is surprisingly citrusy, with light caramel malts coming through. Tastes like a cross between a decent amber and American pale. Very drinkable, big re-sale value. Superb anytime beer, if you can afford it "anytime." AR (417), Georgia, USA Aug 8, 2009 This has a nice malt base accentuated with a good balanced hoppiness. Nice body. The beer is smooth and could be a good session beer.
brewski519 (395), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Aug 7, 2009 From a 12 oz bottle I got a nice amber pour with a foamy tan head. Plenty of lacing to go along with it as well. Aroma of hops, caramel, malt, spice and some citrus. Nice balanced malty taste that was EASY going down - a piney, caramel taste followed and was supported by the perfect amount of carbonation that lent itself to a highly rated mouthfeel. I might even say this brew has some distinct IPA qualities - which isn’t a bad thing in my book. maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Aug 7, 2009 Cask Conditioned Gravity Dispense GBBF 09. An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma is slightly sour fruity with noticeable hops. Nice and hoppy in the mouth with some berry fruitiness and a bit of prickle. Quite subdued and rather thinner in the body than I’d like or indeed expect.
