downender (2538), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Aug 2, 2009 Bottle from Realale.com. Deep amber in colour with next to no head. Big, citrus hops and honeyed malt aroma. Flavour of grapefruit, orange blossom and a dash of pine, with a prickly, dry finish. Very good. slipy120 (64), Michigan, USA Aug 1, 2009 Not a bad beer. When you first smell this you will think, wow that smells like an IPA. The aroma is identical of that of a well balanced IPA. Then you taste it. Yes the hoppines is there but it is oddly very sweet. It is almost like a combination of a Saison and an IPA. Pretty good stuff overall. beernovice39 (241), South Carolina, USA Jul 31, 2009 Dark brown pour with small tan head. Nice balance to the hops and malts....yawn....good stuff RPillsbury (112), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Jul 31, 2009 Draught at the White Horse’s American Beer Festival 2009. Pine and orange dominate in both the aroma and flavour. There is some grassiness to it as well plus and nice bitterness throughout. A good beer. potbeercollege (255), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 30, 2009 Bottled. Dark caramel brown with tan thin head. strong spice and oak aroma notes. Flavor of malt sweets with hints of fruit but oaky... great with a burger! well-hidden alcohol williamherbert (461), Syracuse, New York, USA Jul 28, 2009 Appearance is cloudy red-orange. Thick, slushy head. Lots of carbonation. The smell is pale, crystal malts. Tremendous citrusy West Coast hops. Hint of chlorine, but not one that’s intrusive. Malt turns roasted and nutty. Nearly perfect aroma, beautifully balanced. The taste is heavily roasted, dark caramel malt at first, then a lemony, herbal hop. Malts are borderline amber, sitting like a burnt English/rye. Heavy yeast presence; meshes great with the more flowery hop notes. The feel is medium body, a little dry and bready. That yeast helps. It’s like an English Bitter, loaded with yeast and a flowery, citrus hop. A damn fine selection. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 28, 2009 12 oz. Pours a clear deep amber with a lasting half-inch of creamy foam. Nose is grapefruit and molasses with some light catspray. Flavors of molasses with resin, citrus, and tea leaf. Smooth near medium body is dry. Nice session ale. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2009 Draught. Poured translucent ruby with a light white head. Aroma was citric and floral hops, caramel, honey, and slightly fruity. Flavor was slightly citric, light caramel, and honey finished by a strong bitterness that was somewhat resinous. Palate was nicely smooth and the bitter punch added some depth but overall was light compared to other Stone brews. Definitely a nice session beer but could use some complexity.
