COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This deep amber ale has rich & roasty malt flavors, a big hoppy character, citrus overtones (courtesy of the hops and our special brewers yeast) and modest alcohol.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2007 Bottle. Orangish amber pour. Aroma is hoppy sweet. Taste is malt, hop and bitter. I get quite a bit of sharp earthiness too (cilantro? grass?). I am a bit torn on this one, as it combines a lot of elements I love about other Stone brews (hop, body, etc.) yet somehow doesnít seem to put it all together quite as well.

Clear deep amber/chestnut pour supporting a well developed tan head. Aromas of caramel, citrus, toffee and lighly roasted malt. Similar flavors but with more toffee and milk chocolate and with a very pleasing grapefruity hop bite at the back - definately a Stone brew. Silky texture and a snappy finish with some lingering malt sweetness. These guys are simply not capable of brewing a dud!

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2007 A really enjoyable ale. I would have enjoyed it more had I not discovered that other Stone products are superior.

12oz bottle: Pours to a clear amber body, showing some brown tints, with a large light tan head that quickly dies to a rocky coating on top of the beer. The aroma shows hops, enough so that you know what youíre smelling but not enough to be confused with an IPA. Light citrus & grapefruit hops show in the nose first, then scents of sweet caramel malts, along with hints of a darker roasted malt peek through. The taste begins with a bit of bitter grapefruit and acidic citrus from the hops, while a sweet caramel & earthy medium malt flavor arises to the tongue before the bitterness, and thereís more than the aroma would have you believe, takes over with grapefruit and bitter lemongrass for the duration. Light bodied, medium carbonated, appears to be filtered and then bottle conditioned. This one is in no way offensive or bad, but the hops (again not a bad flavor) tend to dominate and not allow much malt character through.

12oz bottle. Clear copper color with off white head. Solid citrus, orange to grapefruit, hop aroma. Also a hint of malt. Flavor starts off with citrus hop flavor and hop bitterness. The flavor recedes just about midway and softens into a hop and slightly malt aftertaste.

This is a great introduction to beer for people who are only familiar with the likes of swill. I have had MANY friends try this and really enjoy the flavors it offers that are not too overpowering. They then move on to stronger brews with more of a bridge. Sure, itís not classic stone, but itís still great.

12 oz bottle. This is a great beer in that it tastes much like an IPA, but I can drink it all day. Itís smells super fresh and looks great. Itís definitely a good "session" beer. You wanna get hammered? Grab an old guardian. Wanna great beer and keep your pants on? Try a Levitation.

12 oz bottle. Foggy amber with a spongy oatmeal head. Leaves tendrils of lace. Musty hops and a little woody molasses. Tastes a bit like a flat 7-Up with bitter green grass. Watery with low carb. Stone really held back on this one.

Pours a deep, dark amber with some haziness apparent; head is pillowy, off-white, and somewhat small but lasts for a while, with decent lacing. Nose is full of citrus graefruit hops with a lightly roasty caramel far in the background. Citrus hops dominate throughout with some piney hops and a moderate bitterness. Malt takes a back seat, odd for an amber, but it has notes of light roast, and toasty caramel. Palate is lively, medium-bodied, and very slightly watery. Finishes dry, short, and with only bitterness left. A very nice and unique amber, but itís not exemptional in any facet. Stoneís pale is a little more to my liking, but this still beats most ambers.

Bought a six-pack of this in Colorado. They poured deep red-amber with a big airy head. Round caramel aroma. Sweet tarty caramel flavors, almost with a sweet syrupy tinge. Not my favorite offering from one of my favorite brewers.
