Not sure how this rating slipped under my radar for so long, but I gotta say, this is definitely one of my go-to ales when I need to be in it for the long haul. Crisp, clean, inviting and satisfying. Easy to drink lots of, for many hours and still keep my noggin on my shoulders. Great beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A 12 oz bottle with no freshness date or made on date. The beer pours a dark copper color with a small light brown head. A smell of wicked strong hops and not much else. The taste is pretty good but lacking somthing. Good carbonation and a nice beer.

Draft. Pretty good example of the style. Some nice hop and citrus taste. Pretty good, but nothing great at all.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was a definite surprise. The beer is darker than expected, and the juicy hop aroma that greeted my nose was totally unexpected for a beer coming in a 4.4%. Brown, slightly hazed. Candied hop flavor, not a lot of malt involved, but doesn’t have an unbalanced bitterness.

pretty good amber ale has a sweet slight hop aroma, fair taste of a mild hop/ citrus taste, god body.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amazing, a stone beer without much alcohol!! The is pretty decent. The head is not very taste, but, of course, it’s pretty hoppy, like all stone beers. The malts come forward at the finish, which is kind of odd. Good though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2006 Bottle thanks to my friend Brian. I had drank this in Colorado before joining ratebeer, and had not seen it since...until now. Pours amber with and off white head. Aroma of candy bar caramel and floral hops. Medium carbonation and thin texture. Flavor of toffee and citrus, followed by a grapefruit and mild grassy finish. Nothing very complex, and rather simple, but in a good way. I was rather surprised at how much British character was in the malt profile. Combined with the west coast hop profile, this was rather interesting to try. However, I would drink a North Coast Red Seal over this in an amber lineup

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very good. Very reminiscent of an IPA, but a little darker color and malt. Had some citrus to it and the usual floral aroma. Mos def give it a try.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma on this was surprisingly hoppy. Well, let me take that back, this is stone. The aroma is nicely citrusy and flowery...a tiny bit of resin resides in there as well. I should mention the pour, it was quite nice a thick head with great retention and a dark reddish colour. The flavour was good, toffeeish and caramel flavours with that citrus, no...grapefruit hop flavour.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2007 Bottle. Orangish amber pour. Aroma is hoppy sweet. Taste is malt, hop and bitter. I get quite a bit of sharp earthiness too (cilantro? grass?). I am a bit torn on this one, as it combines a lot of elements I love about other Stone brews (hop, body, etc.) yet somehow doesn’t seem to put it all together quite as well.
