greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jun 6, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a perfect amber, small head with some lacing. Aroma of malt and citrus undertones. Flavor has a dominant roasty malt, but impressed with the perfect balance of citrus from the hops. A bit thin, but surprisingly this amber is full of flavor. Not my favorite style, but I could drink this on a regular basis. coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Jun 5, 2009 Nice reddish brown color with very thin head. Big aroma of hops and some wood, maybe some dirt. Taste is not strong, with a bit of overcarbonation, and a light bitter to it. A fair bit of hops show through, but for what it is, its not bad really. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jun 5, 2009 Picked this up the other day at the package store and was totally impressed with this easily quaffable brew. I will admit I was a skeptic at first when I saw the 4.4 ABV. Poured a deep dark copper colour with a medium sized almond coloured head. Aroma was biscuity and softly hopped. Taste was delightful with some brown sugar, rich malts and caramel undertones. Another winner from Stone. Everybody must get Stoned! carruthm (1112), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 5, 2009 Thinnish medium white head. Body is a dark and clear amber. Aroma is big hops. Taste is watery bitter. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Jun 4, 2009 20090604 12 oz bottle from Jonathan Ron in Brielle. Dark red-brown with medium sized lasting beige head. Aroma is earthy, woodsy, with light spruce, light stone fruits. Medium-light bodied with aggressive but fine eff, thinning and drying quickly to an astringent finish. Flavors add some light raisin bread flavors, more spruce, leafy earthiness. At over ten bucks a six pack, it’s not something I would buy regularly as a session beer, but worth a try once. baraciisch (138), USA Jun 4, 2009 Slight hops and spice aroma... Copper color... Flavor is spices and mild bitterness throughout and on the palate... Decent beer... Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jun 4, 2009 A succulent, hempy herbal aroma. You really would have a hard time beating the appearance on this one - especially in a tulip glass - good silver/gold (GABF version) painted label, mostly clear dark tea colored brew with a rootbeer float, fluffy head. The only grumbling is the usual stupid diatribe in small print on the back of the bottle. Dry, slightly astringent, I’d have wagered that it was a rye beer. Good hop character. Not overboard. Medium body, long astringent finish. Really enjoyable. ABC, Betton. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Jun 3, 2009 On tap at Three Floyds and served in an English pint. Clear, dark amber pour with a thin, lasting head of off-white foam that left some nice lacing. The aroma had a modest amont of darker crystal malt along with some mild orange and pine. The flavor was heavy on the crystal malt. Toasted caramel along with some citrus. Medium-body with light carbonation. A decent everyday drinker, but not all that exciting. Sessionable.
