dmac (1418), Toms River, New Jersey, USA May 14, 2009 12 oz bottle from a six pack that is FINALLY available in NJ. Nice mber body, nice off white head and nice lacing. Aroma is very hoppy, imagine that from Stone? The hop flavor isn’t as strong as the aroma would make you believe but it does have a nice dose of bitterness to it. I’m actually shocked and amazed a 4.4% brew can smell this good and taste almost just as good. My only minor complaint is why thte hell is this beer so expensive for being only 4.4%. Despite that it looks like I have finally found a session beer that I can call my own. NJBeerman013 (764), Trenton, New Jersey, USA May 13, 2009 Growler of draft from Gingerman NY, NY. Pours a hazy light brown in color with a modest sized head. The aroma is lightly toasted, somewhat phenolic, with a citrus note. It has a light to medium body, flavor notes of citrus, grassy hops, and a malty sweetness note. Great session beer if you like light hoppy ales. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA May 13, 2009 Stone Levitation Ale is a very clear amber with a thin, yellowed, off-white head that leaves good lacing. It has a resinous citrus aroma that’s loud and fresh. It’s medium-light bodied, sudsy and smooth with a clean, crisp finish. It’s quite bitter. There’s a touch of caramel in the flavor, but it’s mostly resiny pine and citrus. It’s a strong, clean flavor. It’s top-heavy, but it’s great. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 13, 2009 (bottle from Coaltrain Wine & Liquor in Colorado Springs). Pours a very dark amber color. Good clarity. Medium size tan head. Hoppy aroma. Average hop flavor, with light malt. Avg duration. Light bitterness. Watery texture. Fair Lacing. Moderate carbonation. JCastner (102), New York, USA May 12, 2009 Crystal amber with faint off white head. Aroma of cascades, some diacetyl, faint sweet malt. Taste is intensely bitter at the front with a bitter finish. Ok. Muted/session version of other offers. TripelBastard (2), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA does not count May 12, 2009 For the lightness in color, and its strong head, the aroma was quite pungent. Very present floral and herbal notes with a hint of malt sweetness. On the tongue it is hard hitting with its present hop bitterness, which is quite refreshing. It finishes smooth with a hint of malt sweetness. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA May 12, 2009 bottle.
Dark reddish amber color, thick and full half inch of off-white foamy head that clears quick but active carbonation keeps a layer there. Aromas of earthy cut grass and flowers, smooth even sweetness and some light citrus notes. Flavor starts with crisp sharp citric bitterness. SPicy black pepper. Muted toasted bready sweetness in the back. Peppery, citric hop character stays throughout. Light and easy drinking on the palate, full flavored, light bitter finish. SUperb session brew, one of the better offerings from Stone.
