ksurkin (356), Norfolk, Virginia, USA May 8, 2009 12oz bottle from grape & gourmet. pours a very nice copper, garnet with a thin, white head a solid lacing. aroma is great with bright citrus hop notes of grapefruit and orange, pine, sweet caramel malt, and a hint of roasted nuts. flavor is very nice as well with bitter, citrus hops up front, sweet floral notes, pine, and a great balance of nutty, roasty, caramel malt with a bitter hop finish. palate is medium bodied and smooth with solid carbonation. overall, at 4%, this is a great session beer. Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA May 8, 2009 Pours orange-brown with a white head. Light and sweet aroma of malts and hops. Light-medium body with really nice hop flavor but not too much bitterness. Definitely one of the best session beers. blipp (1632), Newark, New Jersey, USA May 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours amber red with a beige head. Fresh citric hops in the aroma, along with caramel malt. The flavor is well balanced, with fruity citrus, hops, and caramel malt. Quite good, and at 4.4% ABV, an excellent session ale. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 7, 2009
Pours a hazy Amber color with a tinted head.
Smells of floral hops.
Tastes are wonderfully balanced. Hops have a little pine flavor with hints of floral.
Nice sweet malt backbone. But not heavy at all. It’s sweet, malty, hoppy, but still remains very light and crisp.
Lots of carbonation. j12601 (1153), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA May 7, 2009 On tap at the Peekskill Brewery. Pours a clear ruby orange brown with crimson highlights and a thin tanned beige head. Citrus hops with a touch of pine. Thin bodied, but hoppy and a touch sweet, with some malt and a touch of grain. Finishes very dry with a long bitterness. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA May 7, 2009 very surprised at the low alcohol content because this one has all the ingredients of a high volume hop infested ale. My wife hated it, which means that the bitter hops and grapefruit appealed to me. Will drink again. jeff789 (360), Pennsylvania, USA May 6, 2009 Pours a clear ruby with a very nice tan head that lingers very excellently... Citrus aroma a touch of sweet malts, not any discernable roast, wonderful aroma for a 4.4% amber ale... Hops up front yield to a slightly sweet malty backbone that does not cut through aggressively... this could be an amazing sessionable ale for the summer time... I’d love to see more american ales with this quality and craft compete with the lower abv beers in the english style... screigh (253), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA May 6, 2009 Pours this great clear copper color. Nice off white head that lasted and left a lot of lacing. Way more hop nose than I was expecting and it smells quite nice. Taste is malty, roasty and higher than expected bitterness. This beer blew me away...a 4% beer that smells great, is fairly complex and tastes great.
