Aquilo (248), California, USA May 5, 2009 Dark reddish-brown with a small head. Aroma is faint and fruity at first. I smell apricot, malt, and some nuts. Not much hops. Did I get the same beer as everyone else? Or did I just get a bad bottle? The flavor is kinda buttery, and malty, with just a hint of hops. As the beer warms, I get this unpleasant flavor that I can best describe as something between lemon and a nasty fart. If I drink it quickly enough, it won’t taste too bad. peter48er (127), Liverpool, Merseyside, England May 5, 2009 12 fl oz bottle. Poured a rich amber colour with a very small white head that soon disappeared. Malt & citrus on the aroma and taste was quite bitter and hoppy with some malt notes. I found this an easy drinking beer with the bitterness I wanted. On this occasion the fairly low abv just suited my palate & needs. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA May 4, 2009 pours a rich amber/brown with small white head. aroma of pine, grapefruit, citrus, roast malts. drinks fairly bitter as to what i was expecting with lots of citrus and pine upfront but never overwhelming and kept in check well by the malts. finish is crisp and has no real after taste. great beer, just wish it was a little higher abv thejon375 (390), Tampa, Florida, USA May 3, 2009 I dont know if I would classify this as an amber ale. I would say its more of a pale ale or an IPA. Pours dark amber color with tan head. Smells of bitter hops. Tastes hoppy and a little malty with some orange notes. Lower in alcohol and easy to drink. MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Butter cellar blowout tasting. Another fantastic beer. A gotta a hard for Stone beers and I was excited about this one. Amber ales are a stlye that I’ve loved in the past but have been disappointed with lately. Stone gets up to the plate and hits a solid double for me. Completely stylistically correct. Goes down oh so easy. Still complex for an amber on the palate. Yum Deeper in color than most ambers. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Butters Big Blowout - Pours a dark amber. Malty and hoppy aroma. Similar taste, with some grass and a nice crisp hop finish. Decent amber ale. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA May 3, 2009 Bottle shared at Butter’s Big Cellar Blowout. Clear reddish pour with ring of whitish head. Nose of watered down hops. Clove, floral citrus hops, caramel malt backbone for balance. Pretty tasty for an amber, with just the right amount of hops. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Bottle at Butters Big Cellar Blowout. Pours a copper amber body with a light beige head that has some legs. Smells sharply of fresh hops and malt. Flavor of malt and fresh hops. Sharp.
