nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Apr 14, 2009 Bottle from City Beer in SF. Dark copper color with an off-white head. Aroma of citrusy hops and yeast. Flavor is sweet caramel malt with some roasted notes and Stone’s typical grapefruity hops providing a bitter finish. Almost like a watered down Arrogant Bastard. Palate is a little watery, but overall the beer is excellent for the style and the ABV. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Apr 13, 2009 Bottle: Rusty copper brown color with a thin light tan head. Smells like a Stone beer! Piny, grapefruit-like hops, spicy, with a light toasted dark bread sweetness. Light fluffy body. Malty flavor- lightly toasted and fairly dry with a light husky and seedy character. Fresh, but the hop presence in the flavor seems restrained (especially considering the aroma) Cascade citrus notes are there under the malt. I would prefer more bittering hops, but it’s solid, nonetheless. Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Apr 12, 2009 On tap. Poured a clear amber red color with a large white head. Aroma of nice citrus hops. Taste is hoppy with a light malt backing. Very enjoyable session brew. Body is moderate, with hops making the brew very enjoyable. Finish is bitter. Overall a very solid bitter session ale. thefle (111), , New Jersey, USA Apr 12, 2009 really good, tasted similar to an IPA which is good in my book. I would try this again, can’t believe the abv is 4, tasted much boozier Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Apr 12, 2009 Draft at BT. Pours an amber body with a white 2 finger head. Big pine and citrus notes and some residual sugars, actually thought the alcohol content was a bit higher. The caramel malt and the aggressive hop bill was just off for me, i passed my pint around for a quick finish. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 12, 2009 12 oz bottle. Finally made it to the DC market, and it was well worth the wait. Pours an copper color with a small white head. Aroma is malts, sweet fruits, and hops. Flavor is a well balanced beer of malts and hops, but contains an unexpected hop kick, which was not expected considering the assumption that this is a "light" beer. One of the best session beers I’ve ever had. mcmd (132), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 11, 2009 Updated: Apr 30, 2009On tap as local promo poured into an official levitation ale glass. Pours a deep copper/amber with a nice thick off-white head which lasts. Aroma is caramel malt, peaches, and grapefruit. Flavor is caramel malt balanced perfectly by bold citrus hops. Nice refreshing palate. Probably the ultimate session beer - can’t believe this is only 4.4%. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Apr 10, 2009 Bottle. Bronze with a small creamy head. Hoppy with some lacing.Gentle bitterness with a medium body. Bitter mouth feel and aftertaste. Refreshing.
