Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some pineapple, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit, caramel, resin, light berry. Light-medium body, light effervescence, wateriness, acidity. I guess it’s a West Coast amber. blutt59 (2095), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Refreshing. Pours dark golden amber with just shy of half an inch of head. For such a light beer the head does stay around nicely. Hops on the nose but not a whole lot else. Laces the glass really well, especially for such a light beer. Leaves the palate in a way that I am not used to when it comes to Stone beer. Nice though for this style of beer, could be a bit more powerful, but what are you gonna do? | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Nice extremely dark brown in color. This beer has a nice fluffy head that I didn’t expect. Lovely appearance. Dominate hop aroma and flavor. Doesn’t have the flavor that I expected, but VERY good. I love the use of hops. I am drunk so forgive the crazy rating. Blah! I think I am smelling fresh hops. Very good aroma A little too thin and focues on the hops a little too much. Nice hoppy flavor. I enjoy hops, but for an amber ale, I just don’t know. Pours a deep, clear amber with a huge fluffy white head that recedes to a sizable cap and leaves a little bit of lacing.
The aroma is full of pine and other evergreen aromas, definitely lots of resin in the nose. There is a little caramel malt but the hops of the star here.
The taste has a big abrasive hop bitterness up front that is barely balanced by the malt backbone before a much more recognizable pine hop flavor lingers through the finish.
The mouthfeel is light to medium but certainly decent given the low ABV on the beer.
This is a very drinkable amber and they certainly crammed plenty of hops into a fairly light beer. Very good. jimmack34 (560), Lancaster, Ohio, USA
