Commercial Description:
This deep amber ale has rich & roasty malt flavors, a big hoppy character, citrus overtones (courtesy of the hops and our special brewers yeast) and modest alcohol.

12oz bottle(courtesy of RSRIZZO)-Pours a hazy cloudy amber with a huge off white loose head. Aroma of citrus and hops then the malt hits the back of your nose. Taste of hops then some dryness and the malt comes on the back end. Rather light bodied for a amber and a bit too hoppy for a rather malty style.

Poured into an Arrogant Bastard pint glass. Pours a very dark but clear amber with a nice two-finger tan head. Great retention with some spotty lacing. Aroma is at first hoppy, but after prolonged sniffing, cookie-ish malt becomes more prominent. The taste is just about identical to the smell. Citrus hops over cookie malt. Unfortunately this beer isn’t very robust and lacks the malt base to support the hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and clean but rather watery due to the aforementioned lack of a solid maltiness. Very easy to drink and a nice sessionable option from Stone.

Off Capital Ale House taps 05/20/08 Clear dark amber with small fine white head.Spicey hop aroma over carmelized malts. Roasty flavor with spicey citrusy hops (dry hopping?) and a fairly dry finish. Overall nicely balanced. The lower alchohol (4.4% ABV) is nice.

Pours dark amber orange, darker than most ambers. Aroma of malt and roasted nuts. Flavor begins with roasted malt and finishes with a nice hoppy bang. Overall, a good amber ale.

The best aspect of this one is undoubtedly the appearance. Huge pillowy eggshell head and a dark garnet body. Typical hop profile with a little grassy undertone and a little roasted malt. Nice session beer but not one I’d seek out.

On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA--Poured a rich amber body with a medium white head. Roasted and robust flavor with a decent hops profile and a mild malt bite. Considering low alcohol, this beer brought a nice full-bodied richness. Citrus, pine. Not bad at all!

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear light brown. with an off-white head. Bitter with heavy hops aromas of pine and citrus. Light bodied with a thin mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Short bitter finish.
