chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2008 A decent brew from Stone, but one of their less exciting. If you want overpowering hops this isn’t your beer. That being said, I do think it is a nice amber ale. Nice malty flavors and a little bit of citrus hops. Nice balance. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 17, 2008 Via trade with stefanje. I owe you a few! Aroma was so so. Light caramel malt with some stale hops in and out. Pour was nice enough. A deep amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was average. Earthy and grassy hops throughout with just a hint of old musty malt in the background. Medium carbonation and thin mouthfeel. This isn’t that bad, but not as good as some other ambers out there. BelgianBeerGal (1275), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Mar 4, 2008 Bottled. Rather dark amber colour with a tan head and moderate lacing. Big hops in the aroma. Flavour was citrus hops with hints of pink grapefruit. A little malt in the background. Just a little thin, flatness in the finish. Good amber. bigbish (137), Colorado, USA Mar 3, 2008 This was a great ale, with nice malt tones and big hops in the aroma and flavor. It wasn’t too bitter, but pretty well balanced. A decent brew. uhclem (188), Loveland, Colorado, USA Feb 28, 2008 Beautiful amber pour with a mocha head and respectable lacing. Citrus hop aroma with a faint undertone of vanilla. Taste was nice but a little too understated for me. Substantial mouthfeel. Aftertaste was a fairly good balance of malt and hops, but a little on the brassy side.
jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Feb 28, 2008 Pours copper-red with a two-finger white head. Spicy, resinous hop aroma. The flavor tends towards balance: all the maltiness of an amber coupled with the lovely citric hop of Stone. Reminds me of North Coast’s Red Seal. Awesome beer, aggressively American, yet refined. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 25, 2008 Draft. Amber pour with an off white yellowed head. Aroma of citrus, toasted malt, light caramel and pine. Flavors of toasted malt, citrus, caramel, pine, and light floral notes. Medium/light body, bitter/malty with a lingering bitter finish. Nice brew! FlyingSwine (169), Littleton, Colorado, USA Feb 16, 2008 Hard pour results in a cloudy brown color, with a respectable white head. Aroma is light but pleasant. Flavor is well balanced, with caramel on the front, and floral/citrus on the end. Palate is thin but present. Dry finish. Overall a VERY good sesson beer, that improves with a bit of temperature (45 or higher).
