Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 10, 2007 Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. This beer pours a deep amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that recedes rather quickly. Small patches of lacing. Piney hops along with caramel and malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with hops, toasted malt and grapefruit flavors. The finish is balanced between citrusy hops and sweet malt, leaving a roasted malt aftertaste. Interesting take on an Amber Ale, leave it to Stone to put a spin on it like this. Overall it’s not necessarily something I would try again but it’s a decent session beer. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Dec 3, 2007 On tap @ Stone. Nice malty nose, roasty. Not much aroma or taste. Rather pedestrian NeroWolfe (13), USA Nov 27, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Dark pour, limited aroma. A refreshing swallow, but the flavor could offer more than just hints. A good casual drink. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Nov 12, 2007 On tap at Stone brewery, while sitting next to Greg Horton’s daughter (old president of QUAFF). One of the kings of session ales. Small head of small-to-microbubbles. Dark amber color. Medium hoppy aroma. Mild bitterness. Some grapefruit hops. Carbonation a little strong for a beer on tap. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Nov 6, 2007 It’s not that it’s bad! It’s just fine. It’s a great lighter version of the pales and I. pales that Stone is known for. Though it isn’t super-mouth-catching, it is there when you need it. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Nov 5, 2007 9-13-07 bottle. Rich amber color with great lacing. Ideal hops aroma. Great on palate. Bitterness is great too. Slightly drying finish - but enjoyable. Well balanced - would have again. scoobysnak (249), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Oct 31, 2007 I honestly am not very big on the Amber ales but this was a very pleasant surprise. Stone of course has to kick it up a notch and add the hoppsiness that is so great. I could definately find myself drinking this again. drewbeerme (2223), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 28, 2007 12oz bottle. thanks to WeeHeavySD. pours clear amber with off white head. nose is toasted biscuit and cookie w/ subtle citrusy hop notes. flavor is toasted biscuits, cookie finish with floral and citrus hop flavor. the hop flavor is lacking a bit. nice body and carbonation for the style. a solid session beer.
