a10555 (123), West Chester, Ohio, USA Oct 22, 2007 Updated: Oct 31, 2007One of the more surprising beers I had found recently. Found at a grocery store in Scottsdale while visiting and loved this.
Poured a nice dark amber color and a great hoppy taste for an amber beer. What a surprise, it left me floating. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Oct 15, 2007 sampled @ GABF 07. Citrus hops on the nose. Pours dark amber. Spicy, with big citrus flavors, grapfruit, with a good dry finish. Solid amber. kmweaver (2398), Sebastopol, California, USA Oct 8, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours a bright and clear, medium mahogany color, (think: fall sunset); off-white head with web-like lacing. Pleasant grapefruit and earthy hops in the aroma; bitter, but with a good show of tea-like malts. Medium mouthfeel; almost to the point of being slightly watery; still, a good jolt of citrus and grapefruit upfront; good, drinkable levels of bitterness and minimal astringency; definitely hoppier than your average amber; candy sugar and tea-like malts at the core and the finish; ends slightly dry. rayg1 (433), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Sep 23, 2007 Pours out a brownish red with a light brown but thin head. This soon dissipates into nothing but a small ring of carbonation. Aroma comming of the brew is very hoppy of cascade or amarillo perhaps. There is also a touch of sweetness in the smell. Taste is very much the same, lots of hops upfront with you typical citrus notes. However, there is still the sweetness almost toffee-like flavor to the beer that is present in many ambers. Not a bad brew but not that great, even Stone couldn’t get me to really like an amber. SeizOne (29), USA Sep 23, 2007 got this from trader Joe’s. Kind of tart tasting like a rotten lemon had been added but it was not horrible. Drinkable but not stones best. joohefner (380), Isla Vista, California, USA Sep 17, 2007 brown amber color with small off white head. beautiful hoppy aroma that can only be described as amarillo. medium body and carbonation. bitter grapefruit citrus and floral taste with caramel too. this beer is strong, but as the name suggests, it is very light and easy drinking. basically, it’s a stone, what do you expect lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Sep 14, 2007 Pours a deep transluscent maroon with a light beige head. Smell is big sweet maltiness equally matched however by a nice blast of fresh fruity hoppiness. Similar smell to a nice IPA. Very nicely balanced sweet caramel and hop flavor for an amber. Nice rich body, great flavor, and well hopped for an amber. Very good, very drinkable, and recommended for sure, even for non amber fans. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Sep 6, 2007 Thanks to footbalm for the bottle. Cloudy dark orange color with a small to medium head. Aroma is caramel malts and a healthy dose of floral hops. No surprise in the taste. Nicely bitter finish. A well done amber.
