GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a clear orange-copper color. Head was thick and off white with good retention and lacing. Malt-dominated light caramel aroma with a hint of resiny hops. Dry on the tongue with caramel and citrusy hops flavors. There is also a nutty note. Mild hop bitterness came out at the end and blended well with the lingering malty finish. Better than average for an amber. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 30, 2007 Thanks to ogglethorp for the trade. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a mediium bubbly/foamy off white head that left lacing. Aroma of pine, mixed citrus, some caramel, Flavor was fruity up front, with mixed citrus, toasted and caramel malts, some lingering roasted notes. A nice balance of hops and malts...very light hop bite in the tail. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Jul 25, 2007 Amber color pour. Malt aroma dominates with pine/resin and some citrus underlying. Taste of big grassy, piney hops with a bit of the citrus and toned malt aspects. Pretty good overall. scottmc (167), Lakewood, Colorado, USA Jul 6, 2007 A good beer all around. A nice heavy head with a body to compliment. Not a strong a aroma, but rather faint. It falls a little short. Great flavor. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2007 Active carbonation, moderately hoppy amber. Nothing exceptional, but very drinkable at the end of a hot day.
Thanks Boutip for studying what I have not had, in our sixth trade. albert007 (409), Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Canada Jun 24, 2007 Bottle, Christmas 2006. Busted the top off while opening, but decided to brave the glass shards. Small foamy off-white head on a deep golden body, with strands of lace. Aroma is slightly sweet with a spicy hop tang. Flavor is smoothly sweet with the crisp but subdued hop finish. Good beer. My insides are now bleeding. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 13, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Naven: Poured a deep amber color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention. Aroma of light piney hops with some caramel malt. Taste is somewhat hoppy with some light caramel malt notes also noticeable. Body is fuller then average with some medium carbonation. I understand that the brewer wanted to have a session beer with limited alcohol but there also too much limited taste – not something I thought I was going to be saying about Stone someday. nightrider (370), encinitas, California, USA Jun 10, 2007 On tap it pours a nice amber gold. Mild aromas of some malt and bitterness. Slight carbonation on the palate. Flavors are ok and kinda thin and not much length on the finish but not bad for 4.4%.
