3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had a sample after the tour back in ’08, but I have overlooked rating this for too long. In honor of Stu, I picked 6 at Crown#6. Pours a cloudy hazed brownish/amber with slight beige head. Nose is fresh floral hops with surprisingly forward pine note. Taste is smooth and reveals how well the malt character balances it out, but is much less of a punch than the nose led on to. Hops are a little light in terms of "Stone", yet more than enough to please the palate, and a good citrus/earth-tone/floral/pine mix. If session beer were a category, this would be at the top. Eventually it tastes slightly watered down, but at no point would I say it tastes ’bad’.

Nummenrannassa. Wonderful beer, especially due to relatively low abv. Another great one from Stone.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Served from a bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance is more copper than amber, with a medium size head and lots of lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, citrus, and caramel. Thin to medium bodied on the palate, with a nice, somewhat bitter finish.
What I like most about this beer is the big flavor and nose without a lot of alcohol.

Bottle poured a clear amber hue w/ a thick creamy off-white head and sticky lacing. Moderate sharp hop aroma. Initial flavor is light sweet w/ a bold bitter finish of lasting duration. Tastes are pine, grass, tobacco, orange, and rye toast. Medium bodied w/ balanced mouthfeel.

Transfer from BA review from 6-9-12-
Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – Served a nice deep amber color with a large white head. The head faded rather fast to give a light to medium level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma had many good characteristics for a beer at only 4.4 % abv. It had a great bready and hoppy aroma with a light spiciness and a nice caramel sweetness which balance out the hop nicely. The hop was rather complex in smell with notes of earth, citrus and pine all present.
Taste – The taste started out on the breadier side with some of the caramel detected in the nose. The hop flavors quickly come to the tongue however and mellow some of the sweetness. First a more citrus hop flavor comes on the scene shortly followed by the pine and more earthy hop flavors. In the end a somewhat pinely and spicy hop flavor mixed with a smooth bread flavor are left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was better than I would have originally anticipated for an only 4.4 % brew. It had a nice slightly more creamy feel with a higher level of carbonation. Overall quite good for the style.
Overall – While only at 4.4 % this beer has some really wonderful characteristics. It has a nice look, smell, mouthfeel and taste that are all much more characteristic of a beer of a much higher abv. Very well done.

A good beer. Not very full of taste but beats the crap out of bulk beers.
