Lukcy Basartd is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.

Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquid Arrogance is typically found.

This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2013 [Bottle / 2012 / 1 year old] Pretty thick looking pour, murky copper, completely opaque except for at the very edges. Light beige head on top, quick to reduce to a small collar. Aroma is full of steel-y caramel malt, toasted bread, light wood, toffee, & a hint of brash hoppiness. Taste is malt heavy; lightly sweet caramel & toffee with some oak, prune, & light metallic notes in the background. A touch of earthiness, dirt, & borderline pine-y hops in the finish. Not bad, but this one is probably better fresh.

1/3/11, poured from bottle to NB tulip. $7 for 22oz @ Huck’s in Spokane, WA A: Pours a burnt orange ale with single finger light tan head which dissipates quickly leaving non-confluent patches. Ale is a bit hazy, with sharp light shine, but little clarity on shapes. Moderate, sticky lacing. S: Hops - standard Stone...Piney with apples, citrus, earth, and a shine of spice. malt background is unique in this blend: I smell seafoam (candy). Hints of oak and remains slightly alcoholic. T: Bitter, malty, cream of tarter, alcohol, oaky astringency. Very, very distant marzipan on finish. Not too impressed here with this one. M: Slick, fine carbonation in a medium to heavy body. Leaves my tongue a bit coated and creamy, which is a nice surprise and levels out the bitterness quite a bit. D: This is a good beer. Not great, and not an anniversary caliber beer by any means. Good experiment, worth one try. Serving type: bottle 01-03-2011

Poured from a bottle. Dark ruby mahogany color with a 1 finger tan head. Nice thick lacing. Strong aroma of herbal hops, sweet caramel malt & oak. Medium carbonation, thick but not weighty body. Complex flavor: oak, molasses, toffee, raisin a little hint of licorice, malty backbone with distinct hop balance. Awesome beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Amsterdam Cafe in San Francisco. Dark red-brown with a fair head. Hoppy, bitter, in a little over-hopped. Well hopped aroma. Tastes fairly good but too bitter for my liking and acidic like taste.

12/01/2010: Stone Lukcy 13asartd... Aroma: Yum! Fresh leavy citrus, pine, and floral hops; huge nose! Appearance: Amber color; lasting frothy beige head. Flavor: Toffe maltiness that’s overrun by massive reisn and citrus hoppiness; mellows off through the finish, but still has a hugh bitterness overall. Palate: Medium to medium-full body; smooth and mellow. Overall: Delicious! The subtleties of the various version aren’t necessarily readily evident, but it’s still a really god beer overall.

Great strong ale. Takes everything you love about Arrogant Bastard and amplifies it. The aroma is brown sugar and roasted malts. The appearance is very similar to AB, but maybe a little more syrupy looking, less translucent. Taste is great. A taste of alcohol but not over powering. On the palate it is a little syrupy and not as carbonated as I’d like. Overall a great extension of the Arrogant Bastard style. I would have liked to experience more hops though in the aroma, taste and finish. Still great though.
