COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lukcy Basartd is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.

Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquid Arrogance is typically found.

This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again.

Thanks to Blazer06 for the share. Pours dark caramel brown with a tan head. Nose is a huge malt presence with with all manner of hops: citrus, pine, and floral all play a part. Flavor has caramel, slight brandy, and more hops than Yakima Valley. Medium to full-bodied and very hot, but very nice.

(draft @ Tap and Mallet - Rochester, NY) Brownish pour with a slightly dirty white head. Very mild aroma with some light caramel malts and hops near the end. Flavor is like a milder version of the Arrogant Bastard. Nice malts are balanced with a nice floral hop and a lightly bitter dry-hopped note at the end. Slightly bitter aftertaste and very smooth on the palate.

So this is like a mix of ten different kinds of Arrogant Bastard dry hopped and put in a bottle w/ annoying writing on the bottle. That’s OK by me, I just wanted to point that out. It’s a deep red brew w/ a little ring of a white head. The nose is hops first, malt never... well, almost never. Thick, resinous piny tones meld w/ warm citrus , spice and alcohol. This is surprisingly mild flavorwise, though. The strong bitterness you’d expect from the nose never materializes and it’s actually verging on being a bit watery. There is a bit of oak character and some sweetness but it’s a bit disappointing after the nose. Medium bodied w/ moderate carbonation, this sits somewhere in between something you’d want to drink quickly and a slow sipper, which is pretty much what it is. This isn’t a bad beer but it’s not really anything special either. Congrats to Stone on 13 years of Bastard!

Bottle: Pours a transparent deep copper mahogany with a clingy-lacing froth of off-white head. Has a fresh citrusy hop nose with some toasty caramel malty underpinnings. Starts with good fullness and appropriate carbonation with a lightly toasty toffee sweetness and fresh resiny hop bitter balance before a clean bittersweet finish. I think I like this beer more than any of the individual components that went into it. It is certainly the most balanced of the set.

Mostly opaque maple brown with a dense bone-colored head. Aroma is a citrus bouquet, and taste is the same, with bracing piney bitterness and rich malt. Complex and delicious, but a bit cloying. $6/22oz

22oz bottle pours a lightly hazy, deep copper amber with a thick, creamy, lacing, slightly off white head. Nose has plenty of citrus hops, some bubblegum, pine, grapefruit. The nose also has some caramel sweetness and some... paint thinner? Is that the oaked bastard? The flavor has some caramel, cookie sweetness right off the bat, a little butterscotch. After that, the flavor is all bitterness, lemon peel, grapefruit, pine. Full bodied, bitter finish. This wasn’t bad, it was fine. It’s a little overpriced for the actual quality of the product. The great blended beers are always greater than the sum of their parts. This isn’t.

Pours medium dark ruddy brown with a finger thick tan head. Nothing but malty sweetness in the nose. The flavor has definite oak that dries out the sweetness quite nicely. Slight bitterness in the finish.

Clear copper color/ rich tan head. Nice pine sap, toasted caramel, vanilla, pit fruit aromas. medium bodied. Good pit fruit, whiskey vanilla, caramel, pine sap, boozy spicy flavors- most worthy.

A great spin on the ever beloved Bastard series of beers. Beautiful gold caramel color with a bit of caramel on the nose and in the palate to match. Ever so slight. Mild carbonation with a full body that is yet mellow at the same time. A sweeter approach to Arrogant Bastard I would say. I also get notes of wood from it as well. Slight hints of spice along with nice earthy notes. The hop profile while Stone is still unique to this beer, they are strong but somewhat subdued for a Bastard line beer. Get this one if you can.

From a bottle poured a brown color with a small amount of head. Strong malty flavor with a lasting finish.
