COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lukcy Basartd is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.

Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquid Arrogance is typically found.

This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again.

Copper red/brown with forever latte head. Nose is sweet caramel malt and brown sugar. Sweet and malty. Taste is huge caramel bubble gum malt. Creamy goodness with sharp warming. Reminds me of the Lagunitas malt profile. And, as my moniker hints, that’s a good thing. Sharp oaky goodness in the back. Can I coin the phrase "Malt Monster"?

Not very appealing brownish color, but a good firm and creamy tan head sat atop it. Very nice spicy and citric hoppy nose, possibly a hint of oak or cocoa that comes through more in the flavor, along with rounded heavy malts. Medium mouthfeel, balanced if big finish.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malt, pine, hops, resin, light citrus, light wood, and slight caramel malt. Poured deep amber/orange in color with a large, creamy dense, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of small and medium-sized particles throughout. Excellent lacing. Flavor is medium to heavily bitter and light to medium sweet. Tastes of hops, pine, resin, malt, light wood, slight caramel, and some brown sugar. Medium body. Slick, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Resin, hops, light wood, pine, malt, slight caramel finish is dry. 8.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

A reddish copper ale with a thin white head. In aroma, a wonderful hop bomb with pink grapefruits, kiki, lichee, mentol and alcohol. In mouth, a smooth biscuitty malt with c-hops, citrus, menthol and warming alcohol, well balanced. On tap at Mr. Beery’s , Jan 3 2011.

Tap. Rating #323. Dark reddish brown with a dirty white head. Big sweet spicy hops, caramel malts, really nice. Big hop flavor, but nicely balanced with more rich maltiness. Nice stuff. (1464)

Bomber. Pours a nice orange mahogany with a dense stand of frothy beige head. The aroma is trademark Bastard. Piney chinook hops jump into my nose immediately, followed by a little bit of citrus and a good dose of woody toasted malts. This is pretty much exactly how I imagined this smelling. The flavor is very woody, between the piney hops, toasted malts, and actual oak. Then comes an interesting fruity sweetness that I wasn’t really expecting. Cantaloupe, strawberry, maybe a little bit of mango. Caramel, toast, and wood come in the finish, which is on the bitter side. That bitterness sticks around in the mouth for a while, though it doesn’t seem as harsh as any of the individual Bastards. Pretty good beer, but does not amount to the sum of its parts.
