Lukcy Basartd is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.

Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquid Arrogance is typically found.

This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2013 I’m a big fan of all 3 Bastards thus was quite anxious to try this one. Full, inviting hop aroma Stone has come to be known by. I get hints of all 3 of the original beers but the oak aged definately stands out. Makes this quite smooth and dangerously drinkable at such a high ABV. A top notch brew - i’ve come to expect nothing less from Stone.

Draft at Isaac’s. Pours a dark, almost opaque brown with a thick brow head. Nose is highly hopped with some boozy oak tones. Taste is really special. Initial bittering hops aren’t overpowering, but the flavoring hops give this beer a deep, complex bitterness. This is balanced out nicely by an oak finish complete with vanilla, booze, and dark wood. Finishes sticky on the tongue, leaving a hop flavor coating the tongue. Really a great blend of Stone’s series.

22 oz bottle. Pours a ruby red with nice tan head. Nice hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and some vanilla hidden in there. The hoppy taste is actually quite subdued once you actually take a sip, with very little lingering bitterness. Almost a bit spicy on the tongue. Good mouthfeel, not watery at all. I’m impressed with this, although I knew I would be as I watched it pour out of the glass--the fire red color is truly impressive.

Pours a cloudy burnt orange/amber. Aroma of citrus, tea, pine with hints of wood and earth. Flavor is citrus, pine, wood, resin. Very hop forward with a caramel, vanilla, wood coming through in the middle. The finish is bitter with a brown sugar and earthiness. A nice melding of flavors of all the bastards!

Had on tap @ the Gingerman, Jan 9th 2010 ..

Bottle @ home. Dark maroon and hazy body with a 1.5 finger tan head. Strong dark malty nose with oak and a bit of a spruce-like smell. Deep and strong malty flavor with a spruce-like flavor with a noted creamy mouthfeel. There’s also vanilla and oak from the aged portion of the beer. The bitterness of the beer is fairly intense and of a floral, bush-like flavor. Finish is pretty strong from the deep maltiness, bitterness, a little harsh, and some alcohol. Not as good as any of the individual components in my mind.

22 oz bottle. Had a lot of trouble finding this beer on rate beer... then I realized that the beer is actually not spelled the right way... Oh well. Pours a brownish copper color with a small light tan head. Smells of light citrus, a ton of hops, a bit of alcohol, and maybe some sweetness to it (could be the citrus?). Tastes fairly similar to the aroma, but man does this beer pack some punch it. It doesn’t even try to be smooth until the aftertaste, just a straight kick in the mouth. Very impressive nonetheless.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a very dark red-amber color with a large creamy tan head that lingered forever and produced incredible lacing. The aroma was orange, pine, grapefruit and wood. The flavor was bitter and intense pine and grapefruit - fairly harsh and boozy with light undertones of caramel and wood. The finish was long, dryish, bitter, hoppy and harsh. Medium body. Ok.

Draught at The Blue Monk, Buffalo, NY. Pours a nice deep orange-amber with an average size semi-lasting frothy white head. Lovely hoppy aroma, I mean it’s just hops and pretty much nothing else but I love it. Flavour’s pretty good, nice and hoppy, though not the hops I would’ve chose -- still very good though it’s a bit too boozy. Finish is very bitter and alcoholic. Average to medium bodied. Quite good but like I said, a bit too boozy to be a favourite.
