4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured a very dark cloudy orange. Aroma is very sweet on the caramelized malts with a good bit of oak. Taste is very heavy on citrus hops, with a very deep lingering bitterness. The oak creates a good bit of sourness on this ale, mixing in very nicely with the citrus. The mouthfeel is ridiculously good on this one. The carbonation is very soft as well with a medium-heavy ale.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The pour is a clear copper-amber color with a finger or so worth of off-white head.
S: Smells intensely hoppy, much like Arrogant Bastard. Lots of piney and citrus peel hop notes which are quite pleasant. Follows with caramel and brown sugar and apples.
T: The flavor is really nothing like the aroma. The hoppiness is not really there other than a bit of bitterness. There is an intensely sweet flavor that is almost like candied apples. A touch of alcohol is present as well. Maybe just a bit oxidized as well.
M: The body is medium and so is the carbonation.
D: The smell of this was really great, but the flavor was sort of weird. A bit too sweet and appley for my tastes. But, an interesting enough to keep me coming back.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Rich O’s. Deep amber, approaching brown body. Fizzy, off-white head, mostly lasting. The aroma is dominated by grapefrit and floral hops with a hint of resin. Notes of toasted grain, caramel and bread. Lightly yeasty with some doughy notes and a bit of earthiness. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. The finish is lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body turning full in the finish, syrupy texture and lively carbonation. Very much like a double IPA, but without the complexity. Both aroma and flavor are hop forward. the taste is full or orange and grapefruit with a thick, malty backbone that doesn’t, surprisingly, add much to the flavor making this a one-trick pony beer. What’s there, however, is enjoyable, especially if you like big hops.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle generously shared by JB. Pours a deep orange-amber with a thin beige skin and wispy lace. The nose is a big beautiful blend of hop notes (dank citrus, pine and wet forest) over a solid, sweet malt backing. Medium-bodied and slick with a tight, bitter finish. Sweet, round malt hides behind big citric and piny hops. If you love hops... well hell, it’s a Stone beer. You know, you’ll get your fix. Nice stuff.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic, moderately astringent.
One-dimensional resinous hop odor and a very astringent, acidic, acrid, crudely bitter mouth experience. A silly beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark, cloudy, caramel color with good, creamy, tan head / Nose of cut pine and caramel / Medium body, fine carbonation, malty, with great, hoppy, balance and long, lightly sweet and bitter, finish / Flavors of cut pine and resin with caramel, brown sugar, and grapefruit notes / Pretty much a double ipa. Could use a little more fruit to balance out the hoppy bitterness, but still very good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep chestnut brown with fading head. Potent slightly vanilla hopped grassy pine to smell, fairly pungent with a touch of caramel and almond. The body is slightly viscous with a tooth coating bitteringly chocolate touch and a floral piney echo lasting well into the finish. Seemingly rough and abrupt it mutates into a more balanced and nuanced finish highlighted by mocha figs and hay. Easy to drink despite its rough edges.
