This is my first bastard in such a long time that its hard for me to dissect the different bastards that are in it. It does have an aggressive hop smell and palate. The rest I'm thinking in some other bastard in my mouth. Very enjoyable though.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A nice looking strong ale with it's khaki, bubbly head, mahogany-red color and ample lacing. Smells of cherry sauce, ripe grapefruit and pine. The pine follows up big in the taste along with caramel malts, molasses, ripe grapefruit, grassy-leafy hops and some oak. Solid!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 10C. Copper with an inch of light beige head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of kumquats, grapefruit, pine, caramel. A bit earthy, just a suggestion of booze. Creamy texture, medium carbonation. Very sweet with loads of caramel melding into kumquats, grapefruit. earthy woody flavours. Slight onion. Big resinous bitter finish oozes through. Doesn’t dry out much at all, which is a shame of the order of .2 -.3.Still, good stuff.

Deep Amber color. Touch of bourbon sweet maltiness with fairly aggressive hops underneath. Big thick body with lots of hops, and massive malt backbone with tons of caramel and bourbon. Slightly boozy, but great.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Poured a dark copper color ale with a large light brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of oak with some residual sugar notes and strong hoppy notes of citrus and earthy notes. Taste is also dominated by oak notes with plenty of residual sugars and strong hoppy notes with light oak in the finish. Body is full enough for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Good stuff overall and very enjoyable beer.

Pours hazy ruby red with a finely bubbled off white head that fades to a rim and faint coating. Aroma is caramel malts, wood, resin, citrus. Taste is pine hops, oak, and bitter grapefruit on a burnt malt bed. Very dry. Bitter finish. Dry hopping is evident. Balance is enhanced with some warming. Enjoyable blend 'o bastards.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap in a tulip glass at Butcher and the Boar with commonshawn. Visually right up my alley. Big frothy head on a mahogany colored ale. Aroma is mostly hoppy with a hint of malt. The head shows a willingness to stick around. Taste really feels like an imperial IPA...plenty hopness. Aggressive like most Stone varieties. I have a strong desire for a more balance...more sweetness or sour/tart fruit. A really well done beer as expected from this brewery...just not as amazing as I thought it would be.
