3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at front door. Tart and pungent, in your face bitterness and acidity. But it’s from Stone, so it has to be drinkable. Lots of citrus, but not puckering. I wouldn’t order too many of these, but the 4 oz sampler was a beaut.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber poured a hazy golden amber with a small lasting creamy ivory head. Aromas of straw, smoke, fruitiness and light white pepper. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of smoke, pepper, straw and a hint of fruitiness with a crisp dry lingering peppery smokey finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle, sample courtesy of Stone. Thanks! Pours a bright, pale orange color; resilient foam. The smoke character throughout is subtle and purposeful. Pepper and charred wood in the nose, with a gloss of candied sweetness. The bit of alcohol and spicy pepper in the mouth bring this around nicely, trimming a core sweetness; a kind tribute to a fallen employee. And a solid beer.

Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma is smoke, earthy and spices citrus undertones. Taste is sweet with mild acrid bitters. Medium bodied, slick texture with some thickness, alcohol well hidden.

I don’t like smoked beers as a rule.. But this is an exception. Wonderful Belgian yeast, lemon, and campfire aromas. Really works well together. Smoky and bitter flavors. This beer is a flavor experience. Nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Fine Fare, Bushwick 650ml: Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is a veritable mix of smoky wood and farmhouse funk. Light amount of fruitiness is also slinking in under the smoke. Slightly sweet. Quite smoky, but I would not quite go as far to say that this was a meaty beer as are some smokebeers. Perhaps this is because the thinner malt backbone negates the thick savory meat flavor. This is an interesting mix of a beer. I managed to drink the whole bomber myself on a weeknight.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Interesting beer. Comes off early like a saison, but quickly develops into an imperial beer. I didn’t know the abv but this tasted like it was 10%. The nose is the most intriguing part as the fruit backs down upon warming and the smoke begins to rise. Solid complexity. The enjoyment of the flavor diminishes at that point, however. It’s thick, sticky seeet malt to the finish from then on. Could be dynamite at a lower strength.

Bottle... Poured amber/orange with a moderate head. Aroma of fruity yeast esters some smoke. Light fruits and ester with a nce smoky, burnt wood tone for complexity. Balance and not overly smokey with a sweetness, yeast spice and esters.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours slightly hazy orange with a wispy head. Fruit and spice with a touch of smoke in the background that builds in the aftertaste. Very unusual.
