3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Stone does a lot of stuff as of late. It’s always hit and miss with them for me. A smoke saison? Well, it had a copper hue. Thin head. A bit malty, more than I like in a saison. Boozy. I think the maltiness hinders the taste. It needs to be more smoother. It has a cloying taste. And the finish is way too bitter. Its alright but not great. Stone puts out overrated and overhyped beers consistently.

A nice simple smoked beer, well balanced and just enough smokiness. Job well done on this one.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Hazy golden color; it pours viscously; small head. It has the flowery and alsmost fruity aroma typical of many American Saison, deep, with a light spicy touch. Good body structure, the mouthfeel is slightly oily, and it’s fairly sweet; delicate pale malt flavor, mix of spices and fruit from the yeast, light smoked touch, and light acidity; these components blend well together for a dynamic result; correct bitterness; the alcohol is not noticeable.
Nice beer, mostly a sipper, and I would like to try a version with more smoke too.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled at Seattle International Beer Fest 2014 (delayed rate). This is one of the lovelier saisons I’ve ever had -- really enjoyed it. It starts out like any other saison, a nice farmhouse golden ale. It’s a little malt-forward, yeasty for sure, with a subtle citrus and peppercorn... and the cherry wood comes flowing through at the end. It’s a lovely wood, slightly smoky, that lingers on the finish, adding some really great complexity to the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a light, off white head atop a clear orange body. Nose is very mellow, mushroom, roasted nuts and only a slight marshmallow. Much more flavourful than the aroma. Tastes of wet cedar, hot malt and buttery finish. Very interesting.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky dull straw pour with decent white head ring. Sweet and malty crackers and belgian yeasty breadiness. Not syrupy. But definitely sweet. The cherrywood actually shows through here. ABV is hidden very well. Not what I would classify as a saison, but more like a well balanced and more complex wheat wine. Lingering orange pith bitterness on the tongue. Well done for what it is.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly hazy gold from the bottle with thin wisp of white head. Aroma is straight out farmhouse yeast with hints of smoke behind. Taste is more of the snow but still done nice saison qualities. Nice burns on the way down but not present in the mouth, decent, interesting.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sitting with the wife drinking this very unique beer and we both like but have different takes on it. I find the aroma a little off putting almost oniony wife said just weak.we both find the appearance very nice almost a tangerine color with a jelly like look to it. Palate is great silky but not flat with mouth coating that makes the flavors last. The smoke flavors are big and a little bitter but the sweetness balances it out nicely with out really being sweet.
