December 27, 2014 - bottle purchased at Stone. Black pour with limited head. Aroma was a nice bourbon with rich coffee and some chocolate. Taste was consistent with aroma and the roasted malt was noticeable. The finish was a touch bitter with some dry alcohol.

From a 50 cl bottle shared at home. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of bourbon. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. Bitter roasted finish.

500 ml. bottle. Thanks Mike! Pours black with a decent brown head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, coffee, and bourbon. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, dark fruit, and bourbon. I might have held this too long, as the coffee has faded some. Still an impressive concoction.

On tap @ Pour It Black 2014. Very nice aromas of bourbon, wood, espresso, chocolate, oak, vanilla and caramel. Appearance is black. Very smooth flavors of chocolate and espresso overtones. Notes of figs, dates, raisins, plums, toffee, dark roasted malts and coffee bean oils are present throughout the palate. Finish leaves licorice oils, espresso, vanilla and a big bourbon booziness. Overall, really nicely blended bourbon and espresso. A+ rating.

Bottle, thanks to Richie. Sweet caramel and chocolate aromas. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Sweet caramels and big boozy notes dominate. A bit of tanginess in the coffee and the bourbon is low brow. Good body and mouthfeel. A bit thin I the body.

Better than regular BA IRS. Coffee holds up well, despite being close to a year old. Smooth, sweet and nicely integrated barrel. Similar to Black Note in that regard. Well executed.

16.9 oz bottle. Dark brown with speckly tan froth. Nose is fudge brownie, bourbon, coffee and wood. Medium body with a tingle. Taste is espresso, bourbon, tobacco and bittersweet chocolate. Reminds me of a long night at the bar.

Aroma: chocolate, leather, some blue cheese funk. Appearance: dark brown with foamy beige head that quickly dissipates. Taste: sweet cocoa, some bitter coffee and chocolate and burning bourbon. Palate: smooth and syrupy.

500 ml bottle shipped to me by Jesse, thanks a ton! Pours an opaque dark brown nearing black with light passing as a maroon hue. One finger of rocky head quickly crackles down to a very thin wisp, leaving virtually no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and tobacco complexity with cigar. Oak, chocolate and light espresso notes. Flavor is massive and complex: roast, espresso, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and sweet coconut in the finish. Very smooth and delicious - another great beer by Stone. Alcohol is completely masked, it’s hard to believe this is 13.9%?! Full bodied, subdued carbonation, and sweet complex finish with coconut, malt, and espresso. Outstanding.
