Aroma: chocolate, leather, some blue cheese funk. Appearance: dark brown with foamy beige head that quickly dissipates. Taste: sweet cocoa, some bitter coffee and chocolate and burning bourbon. Palate: smooth and syrupy.

500 ml bottle shipped to me by Jesse, thanks a ton! Pours an opaque dark brown nearing black with light passing as a maroon hue. One finger of rocky head quickly crackles down to a very thin wisp, leaving virtually no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and tobacco complexity with cigar. Oak, chocolate and light espresso notes. Flavor is massive and complex: roast, espresso, chocolate, oak, vanilla, and sweet coconut in the finish. Very smooth and delicious - another great beer by Stone. Alcohol is completely masked, it’s hard to believe this is 13.9%?! Full bodied, subdued carbonation, and sweet complex finish with coconut, malt, and espresso. Outstanding.

ad a rather long and large tasting last night, but started with this as I wanted to have this awesomeness before anything else touched my palate. That we followed it up with a very good (and lower abv) Eclipse showed us in hindsight just how well the 14% abv was hidden under the gigantic waves of coffee, bourbon, chocolate and roast. Pretty much everything I hoped it would be. VERY KBS like, maybe a touch thicker. Smooth as hell. Pretty sure this had to have had a 2nd coffee treatment as it 9or after it) sat in bourbon barrels because it’s even more cofee-riffic than the Espresso IRS was fresh 15 months ago. Awesome awesome awesome!!

Bottle @ home. T. Hanks, Jake. Black pour with a finger of khaki foam. Nose is rich and intense bourbon, sweet vanilla, and coffee. Dark chocolate and lots of roasted malt. Slight marshmallow and graham cracker as well. Flavor has a really nice sweetness of vanilla and marshmallow. Slight burnt wood bitterness. A nice spicy coffee and whiskey character. Subtle heat in the back of the throat. Good roasted malt and burnt sugar. Hints of dark fruit and licorice. Kind of thin, which is my only real knock on it.

Holy hell yes! Rich brown pour, creamy brown head. Such a decadent mix of fudge, coffee and bourbon. What a treat. Thans AmTran87!

Corked and caged 500 ml bottle from trade, 2014 Series Batch No. 04 (2013 Espresso RIS). Pours pitch black with a half finger mocha head. Aroma of nice vanilla bourbon tones, chocolate, some coffee roast, oak, alcohol. Flavor is vanilla, bourbon, caramel, oak, chocolate, some spicy coffee notes, lingering char and bourbon on the palate. Really nice, smooth, yum. Body is thick with medium low carbonation. A beautiful beer.aybe a bit hot and this would probably improve if laid down for a little bit. My only complaint is that there isn’t much coffee/espresso here beyond some muted earthy tones. This was released about 5 months ago so maybe that has faded. Doesn’t matter though. An awesome barrel aged stout.

Very nice brew. Received in trade from Tom Lever. Poured into snifter glass, dark motor oil with some brown hue towards the outer part of the glass. Wonderful aroma of vanilla, bourbon and coffee. Taste was similar to aroma but with some spices. Very enjoyable brew. Very well done by Stone! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to Justin. Nose is a prominent coffe with a bit of pepper. Pitch black pour with an medium brown medium sized head. Taste is a great balance of booze, coffe and roasy. balance is more towards booze, but the underlying beer is great. a wonderful balance. good p00p

Pours black with a solid mocha head. Aroma of rich chocolate, coffee, and blonde brownies. Taste is creamy chocolate malt balls, cappuccino, dark fruit, and a healthy dose of bourbon. Creamy mouth feel with a hot bourbon kick on the finish that warms my chest. I quite liked this one, although not as much as Fyodor’s. The bourbon element is just a bit overdone.
